Not sure a bog standard shed would make for much of an office; presumably its uninsulated and would be freezing in the winter and pretty hot in the summer.

My brother insulated his wooden shed / "log cabin" with 2" cellotex to make an office and it's fine all year round.

I LOVE how quickly some people on this forum a) jump to conclusions and b) detract away from the original topic of the post.

If you have nothing helpful or credible to add, post your 'whitty' remarks elsewhere. This is an advice forum..

It's lucky for the OP that you've added to the balance of genuinely helpful comments by coming forward with this most infomative post.

    Well done!:A

Mate I know was doing up a house - their tenancy fell through when his wife found she was pregnant, so they spent an educational 10 months living in an initially incomplete 3 car garage. Now with its own gas boiler, full plumbing & mains to code.

Never underestimate what folk will do to a structure if *pushed*.

Not sold on 9", I think 12" [minimum!] based on reading this and (just in case it goes without saying) (a) insulate to prevent thermal disturbance & (b) mark it so works on one do not disturb t'other. Then make sure it gets Documented Clearly should the property be sold. Wonderful what you can "inherit" all unknowing.

Trust me when I tell you the hazel twig is unreliable when you are uncertain as to whether it's power or water. If the trench has been done well & cunningly, in another 5 years you shouldn't be able to see where even in a severe drought. Which, thinking about it, is either a reason to make a hash of the job or to make a Feature of it.

Thermal cladding and good waterproofing are rarely bad ideas but above all make sure you have detailed insurance on garden shed contents or that the really expensive tech is wifi & either portable or based in the house.

    Happy Shedding.
