Anyone got a child that sat KS3 Maths test today? Year 9

My daughter is getting herself in a right mess saying that members of her year knew the answers to the test as it was past exam from 2008, available here

Just wondered if anyone had heard something similar? I find it hard to believe that its true, but just in case

I thought KS3 SATS were abandoned in recent years, so any such tests done would be older papers.

OK,looks like you're right so it was probably a mock test?

Susan is correct. I suppose reusing old tests can be a useful guide but you need to remember that the levels they were marked against should not be used

Just because some other kids knew they were having a test doesn't mean that they will get it all right. Surprise tests often show more about the students than when they have revised or crammed for it. I gave my GCSE class an old paper to do yesterday without warning them and am really pleased with how much they could remember. Now if they can replicate or better than in the exam in 4 weeks, I'll be delighted!

They might have used past papers to get Year9 students a taste of what a formal exam might be like. It might also help teachers access children's learning needs in the subject as would any internal school tests.

I wish them all the best in their exams.
