We have an 8 week old Cockerpoo puppy and she has got a slight diahorrea problem - we took her to the vet, yesterday - who gave us some "pro-biotic paste" to try to help clear it up
My wife fed her a whole scrambled egg for breakfast this morning !!
I have read that egg can cause diahorrea - is this the case ?
Puppy photos on the way !!

Well, Hill's line of food for sensitive stomachs (we use the cat version but there's a dog version too) is 13% egg.
My understanding was that adding egg to dog food gives it some extra protein which is good for them, and that dogs can eat raw or cooked egg (they're much less susceptible to salmonella than humans). That being said, I've always heard about adding it to the dog's main food, not just feeding them a big plate of egg... Egg on its own wouldn't do your stomach many favours.
Also I've heard of feeding eggs in relation to adult dogs - don't know about pupsters.

I think the egg breakfast could go either way TBH./
What I would recommend is to feed only cooled, boiled chicken alongside the cooking broth for a couple of days. You can use bone in pieces but make sure you carefully remove all bone pieces before feeding0 -
I'm assuming that if he is 8 weeks you have just recently collected him? It can be quite common for young pups to have a runny bum when they are settling in. The paste should help out and hopefully it clears up well. My pup had giardia when she was small which needed treatment. Overfeeding can also cause it which is very easy to do when they are so small.
Egg should be fine however if he is fine on whatever food he is eating and he has the paste I would probably just stick with that or maybe do some chicken and rice as others have suggested.
Its very tempting to try lots of different things with them but again I was advised not to do so when young, I was desperate to get my girl off the food given by breeder as it was crap but had to wait a good couple of weeks for the runny bum to clear. I then soon moved her to a good quality food and she has been doing great since (now 14 months)
Having a new puppy is amazing, cherish it as it goes so fast and plenty of photos are essential0 -
There's absolutely nothing wrong with feeding eggs to puppies/dogs.
When it comes to high quality protein, fats, vitamins & minerals all in one little package nothing can beat them.
All my litters were raised on lightly scrambled egg mixed in for one meal every day, my three adults still get them 2-3 times a week.
Some dogs will eat the whole thing raw, including shell!
Obviously if they don't agree with your puppy you stop giving them but that applies to any food.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
Egg can have a binding effect, and is a fairly easily digested protein, so could be good for diarrhea. However, some dogs could react to them - and if pup hasn't had them before, they might be a bit too much to introduce on an already delicate tum.
Also, did she add butter or milk when scrambling them? I feed mine eggs raw (they're raw-fed) but if cooking, I would use lactose-free milk or just a splash of water with no milk at all - many dogs are lactose intolerant, so cows milk may upset the tum further.0 -
My vet recommended scrambled egg when my dog had diarrhea .
Raw egg can upset some tums. My two get a raw egg every week and have no problems but I have had one dog who did get the runs unless the yolk and white were switched up together first.0 -
Ours have had an egg since by he was a pup - usually as a treat on a weekend.
I don't know if it's that, the food or just his genetics but I've yet to see a beagle with a coat as rich in colour as his (not biased at all!)0 -
My dog loves scrambled egg. When I cook it I just whisk the egg and cook it in a non stick pan. I don't add milk or anything.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65

A tummy upset could be due to the stress of leaving his litter and moving to a new home .0
