Right, i have got a copy of the cheque now but need a hand deciphering it.

    Front
    Lloyds 777668
    Central Returns Inward
    PO Box 175
    Northampton NN4 7X

    Back
    230419048 777668
    050516 18 3068 3070
    Lloyds Out

Could you help me identify the sort code and account number of where it was cashed or the account it was cashed into?

Do any of these hieroglyphics look familiar to you, and bear any resemblance to your own account details?

    77-76-68 is TSB Aldridge
    05-05-16 is Yorkshire Bank Leeds

I handled unpaid cheques very infrequently and it's been a while since I last processed one so I can't remember much about them now. The one thing that I do know is that almost all cheques go through a central processing organisation in Northampton so you can ignore that part of it.

I think that you'll need to get back to your bank and explain the situation so that they can decipher the codes.

Would 05/05/16 not be a date it was processed?;)

If Lloyds processed the cheque as the stamp on the front indicates the TSB sort code and account number would suggest that is the account it was paid into.
