Hi Just wondered if anyone had any experience of what sort of things could have triggered this light to be on constantly ?
Owners Manual says the light is part of the engine control system which monitors various "emission control system" components. What does this mean - is this something to do with the catalytic converter ?
Its booked in on Wednesday and I'm hoping it will be covered by manufacturers warranty. The AA have confirmed its still safe to drive until then.
I haven't got a clue about cars so any help appreciated

All you can say for certain is that the car thinks there's a problem with something. The light shows that the engine management computer has spotted something that's out of normal values. It might be any of dozens of things.0

Thanks for replying I just wondered what "emission control system components" are as I hate going to the garage with no idea of what they are talking about
but fair enough if its too long a list to explain

It really could be anything from a loose connection or broken spark plug to a faulty sensor or major engine problems. The only way to find out is to plug in a diagnostic tool which the AA or garage will do for you.
Chances are it will be simple to fix if the car is running fine. Don't worry about it, just wait and see what the fault is.0 -
Get an OBD2 reader (about £10 on eBay), plug it in the diagnostic socket and that should tell you why the light is on.0

Thanks everyone - the light went off today ! The car is booked into garage in morning so will see what they say. Can they still read the codes if the warning light has gone off by itself ?0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

So, garage have diagnosed Historic code P0365 Camshaft Position Sensor "B(Exhaust)" Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1)
The warning light came on after a strong smell of fumes the night before on starting the engine and moving a few feet to enable someone else to park behind me. Don't know if this was anything to do with the fault.
The printout I have been given says - Carried out Diag path, wiring checks, powers, earth all ok within spec. Carried out scope check and all ok with printouts.
Hoping that's the end of the matter ?!0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
