I have a fealing that they aint doing a electronic verification (or they are setting the bar too high). Halifax let me open a current account without seeing ID but for a sainsbury's saving account I have to send inportnat documents via the post
They do electronic verification. I did not need to send any documents.

Sainsbury's accepted me using electronic verification, but my wife had to send in her documents.
Icesave were the other way around. Wife was accepted electronically, I had to send in documents!
It made me get around to re-registering my driving license to the correct address though, and wasn't much hassle really.
Having been the victim of ID theft, I'm happy to co-operate to make sure the banks know I am who I say I am.0 -
I have certified id for Sainsbury's in Halifax branch - but permission was gained from Sainsburys first
I can confirm though that we can not see Sainsbury's, BM or Intelligent Finance accounts on Halifax/Bank of Scotland systems0 -

My OH needs to send the documents to sainsburys. They did say he could take the ID to Halifax branch instead. He can't really get there in office hours and doesn't want to send them so he'll not be proceeding. its the second time he's needed ID and been refused credit despite a good credit rating. He's emailed the local council re the electoral role as we have a complicated address and he's wondering if theres a problem there. Apparently the way you write your address and the way the bank formats the address must match the PO format and electoral role for electronic checks to be verified. (or so I;'ve been told) I often have a problem writing my address in electronic online forms as it doesn't want to accept all the numbers and names I need to put in!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
Can he not get to a Halifax branch on a Saturday?
He will always need id for banks, they have to follow procedures. Most banks now adopt a "one verified, always verified" approach for eixsting customers though.0 -
I wonder if it's normal to take 1 month to verify your identity, grrrr
It's been at least 3 weeks since I called them and they confirmed the receipt of the documents...Being brave is going after your dreams head on0
