Faulty homeplugs maybe?

This was the 1st post in my thread start.
I am only connected to the Sky black router through powerlines. I have tried all the lan ports on the router for at least 1 day on each port and still it disconnects. I am using RouterstatsLite on the pc connected using powerlines and not wifi.
As mentioned before wifi works when powerlines drop out.
I have checked Sky router hub logs and i can see no indication of the lan ports dropping out or sky broadband not working.
Also mentioned that before i got powerlines broadband was ok using wifi dongle but speeds were not good so got powerlines and then soon after dropouts/disconnections started.
What is the reason for running Router Stat Lite on the PC connected via powerline, when you know that the WiFi does not drop when the powerline loses the connection. It is simply logging the lines SNR and speed over time.
Powerline adaptors will never be as good as a simple Ethernet cable run from downstairs to upstairs for reliability and speed, so do the obvious thing and ditch the pathetic powerline adaptors!0 -
I have acouple of these tp link adaptors and they do occasionally drop out.. I usually turn tbe one nearest me off and back on and it starts working again. I have never found a pattern in why they do it.IITYYHTBMAD0

Avoid placing a router power supply (wall wart) directly next to a Powerline adapter, I found it caused speed to drop. So, try not having both in the same socket block, use an extension lead, then re-test your speed.0

routerstats is logging the LINE adsl connection, not the connection between router and pc... I suggest you first confirm the line's ok before looking at other kit.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Personally, I use Develo 650 Triples to connect to TV, Blu-Ray and Sky decoders in several different rooms and have had no problems with this set up at all. I live in a three storey house and long ethernet is out of the question.
I do, however, use Ethernet direct from the modem for my computer.0 -

I do not accept that Ethernet is out of the question! It is no more difficult than running TV aerial/satellite cables - they can even be run externally.
There is always a way to route Ethernet cables in a way that they are not visible, it simple needs a bit of thought. I have run cables between floors where the pipes run and the total length of Ethernet cables is not an issue in any normal home.
Powerline adaptors do work for some users but there are many other electrical items in most homes that can and do interfere with them, making them basically useless due to random dropouts, especially if the reason for buying them was to achieve a better connection than WiFi.
Ethernet is the ultimate followed by WiFi for mobiles/tablets etc and I have never had dropouts when using WiFi but the speed can fluctuate sometimes.
The OP says "Faulty homeplugs maybe?" - not faulty but totally ineffective when knocked out by any external mains borne interference.0 -

I have used home plugs without any difficulty for years, if they were all unsuited for purpose as you imply then the manufacturers would go out of business..0 -
Happy Friday 13th.
I have managed to get a laptop from a mate to try another idea i had.
I put Router Stats Lite onto the laptop( i know somebody on this thread stated it is not what i need) and connected a lan cable direct to the router port and started the RSL. I ran a peedtest 1st and was getting over 39mb down and 9.6mb up.
While that was running downstairs i was on the pc upstairs using the homeplugs as connection.
From 5:30 this morning to just after 3pm the laptop has not lost connection. The pc has lost/dropped connection 8 times that i know of as not been on it all that time. I was running windows update today and stopped twice.
To me it seems that the TP-Link homeplugs are at fault or have a problem holding a connection. I have been on the TP-Link forum an a lot of users have the problem but no firm way of sorting it. The homeplugs came with a 2 year warranty so may have to get them involved.0
