Hello
At the end of February i got Sky fibre and was not getting very good sppeds on wifi so i got TP-Link PA4020PKIT homeplugs.
I got them going and the speeds were about 38mb down and nearly 10mb up.
I have a pc upstairs and a freesat box with catchup tv and they are both on the homeplugs.
They worked ok for a few weeks but in the last month i have been getting lots of disconnections.
I installed routerstats lite to monitor the connection it it shows dropouts/disconnect for a few seconds upto 5mins at the most.
The homeplugs are not on powersaving mode and i have checked the lan card and made sure powersaving modes are turned off.
2 weeks ago i done a constant ping task to start when the pc starts up and it was ok for 10 days but now it times-out a lot and disconnects.
When it disconnects using lan/homeplugs wifi is ok so i think the TP-link homeplugs are busted.
Just to add i did have a pair of solewise homeplugs before but they were 85mb and restricted speeds so i went for TP-Link.

try the solwise set, even if speeds are down a bit it will allow you to confirm/deny the serviceability of the tplink set......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Have you bought any new electrical devices? Especially anything with a switch mode power supply.
Just like ADSL broadband homeplugs are susceptible to electrical interference on the wires used to carry their signals. It is just about possible that it's a neighbour on the same mains phase with a duff PSU causing this.
I doubt that the units would work at all if they had developed a fault.0 -

There is nothing new in the house apart from the homeplugs. I though it may have been the central heating but i have not had that on for 3 weeks only the hot water but still the same.
These homeplugs have a pass through and dual lan sockets but NOT wifi and i have been on the TP-Link help forums and a lot of users have this problem but no fix that i know of.
When i say wifi is ok i mean connecting to the router from a mobile or tablet or Sky box are ok as this homeplu doesn't have wifi included but some models do.0 -

This is almost certainly a coincidence, but I've been with Sky (not fibre), and like you have been getting frequent, intermittent disconnections for the past six weeks or so.
Also like you, I set up a script to run ping tests, and after much troubleshooting (new router, all new cables, new microfilter, line tests, etc.) nothing made a difference. Then, suddenly the connection was fine for 9 days, and once again I'm back to frequent dropouts.
I wonder if any other Sky customers have had similar issues...
I'm currently waiting for a second engineer's visit...
In your case, I guess you need to ascertain whether it's the ADSL connection or the homeplug connection that's going down.0 -
How interesting - we are getting the same problem with a BT Home Hub 5 and ZyXEL homeplugs. Previously, with a Home Hub 3 there was no problem. Now we get intermittent line disconnections and re-establishing...0

That is the problem.
Last night i had BBC iplayer on a laptop wireless and Sky go on the pc through lan/homeplug.
When the connection on the pc went down the laptop was still playing so i know the Sky routers wifi is ok.
I thought i had the Solwise homeplugs but i cant find them to test.
I have not called Sky to ask for help as the cs rep just goes through a script and you have to reset your router and then test this, that and the other things. I have tried looking at the Sky router stats but it says no lan disconnections and the router has been running for days ok.0 -
I have exactly the same problem. In the past year I have tried BT and Devolo homeplugs, a BT and a Netgear router, different windows 7 and windows 10 PCs and both onboard and ethernet/USB interfaces. All to no effect. Several times a day the ethernet link hangs. It can usually be fixed by resetting the PC interface with the troubleshooter but if this doesnt work I have to disconnect and reconnect the ethernet cable.
It isnt the ADSL line - wireless devices work fine.
So if anyone has any ideas on what else to try I would be very greatful.0 -
There seems to be a few other people with the same issue as my problem.
Well today i turned the pc on at 05:30 and started the constant ping and the RouterStats lite software and at 15:45 i checked the stats and i had 14 dropped connections lasting from a few secs to over 6 mins. Looking at the ping times i was getting 3ms reply times but now some of them are 1445ms and some are no reply at all.
Today all i had running was the pc by homeplugs and no wifi, sky wifi connector or freesat were connected to the router.
I have not contacted the firm i got these from yet as i want to see if they are faulty or problem with the setup or the house wiring.0 -

If Router Stats Lite is showing multiple dropped connections, why are you suspecting the powerline adaptors?0 -

This was the 1st post in my thread start. If Router Stats Lite is showing multiple dropped connections, why are you suspecting the powerline adaptors?
I am only connected to the Sky black router through powerlines. I have tried all the lan ports on the router for at least 1 day on each port and still it disconnects. I am using RouterstatsLite on the pc connected using powerlines and not wifi.
As mentioned before wifi works when powerlines drop out.
I have checked Sky router hub logs and i can see no indication of the lan ports dropping out or sky broadband not working.
Also mentioned that before i got powerlines broadband was ok using wifi dongle but speeds were not good so got powerlines and then soon after dropouts/disconnections started.0
