Mon 9 may 2016. What small dfw stuff will you do today?

:):)

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

    Morning all.
Back from a glorious visit to ds1 and his family. Weather was perfect.
No disasters on my return. Looking at the sheep in the shed I begin to doubt the scan results. No sign of any lamb tummy. Just happy munching away.
Got 20 on way home of ald! Stuff.
Weirdly feel like weekend should start now. Odd.
Have spent far too much in the last 6 weeks on craft stuff and chickens. Need to slow down and use my purchases and stop spending.
    Have a good week all.

Morning everyone :hello: thanks for the start Maria glad you had a lovely weekend.

How did Monday come round so quick, definitely don't feel ready for the week ahead, mainly because I enjoyed the weekend so much and we managed to squeeze so much in :D

    Today will mainly look like:
Check banking, spreadsheet, FPL and surveys - hoping to get the final 75p for 1poll this week. Bet I get screened out of loads :o
Wrap birthday present for DD friend and get her to write card from stash
Try and wrap fleabays before work so DH can take them today as didn't get round to it yesterday.
Meals from stores, soup for lunch to work (as its fresh in fridge from last week, not normally lunch of choice when it's going to be in high 20s:rotfl:)
Hot drink on commute, take bottle of water to avoid canteen
    Fly lady bathroom
Washing just in machine on 30 will hang out and probably put the last one on, as it'll definitely dry today.
Place order for my 2nd job, have a couple of customers wanting things :D

Think that's about all, check back later. PF.

    Good morning everyone
I love when the sun is shining, although I'd be a lot happier if I didn't have to go to work and I could just sit on my bum and do nothing all day. I feel so tired, even after a nice relaxing weekend.
Anyway - countdown to the weekend is already on. :p Here are today's plans:
    Check banking and PAD
    Full day of teaching
    Enjoy the good weather
    Aim for nsd
    Training tonight
    Early night
    Make time for myself
 Enjoy the fact that I batch cooked over the weekend so I don't have to cook tonight
 Try and fix this blimming oscilloscope I've been on with for days at work.
Think that'll do for now. Have a good day everyone

    Morning All

I'm another who didn't want the weekend to be over. It's kind of sad to me how little real time we get to spend with those we love. The week days are so busy :(

DD seems to have decided literally overnight that all she wants to do is move. This means she won't sit still for 5 minutes but she also cannot crawl or pull herself up yet. So queue lots of frustration and crying as soon as she flops over and lays on her tummy like a beetle yet again. Tired.

    Today I will
    1. Check banking
    2. Keep on top of household routines
    3. Make cheap meals using up as many leftovers as possible
    4. Walk as much as I can
    5. Post CTF transfer form.

    Bye for now.

    *Water veggie garden.
*Plant out at least 3 trays of new plants - mostly grown from free seed.
*Update budgets. They are a bit.muddled up & I need to sort it before it all gets out of control.
*Borrow £47 cash from holiday savings piggy so I can pay the fish man when he comes today.
*Progress my project to cheer up our dark courtyard patio for very low spend.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Made sure mr f took bottle of water to work this morning - two free ones from 'Boots' yesterday from O2 Priorities.
*Sort through fruit basket to see what needs using up first.
*Pick radishes to add to tonight's big salad.
*Plant out beetroot & more lettuces.
    *Enter a competition.
Ok, as all I've done so far is have a bath, paint my toenails & have breakfast, I'd better get myself moving.
    Have a good week,

Morning guys thanks for starting us off maria!

I agree with everyone the warm weather certainly brings better times. Yesterday my ds came over with his girlfriend for breakfast and we all spent a few hours in the garden which was lovely. Then in the afternoon we went to my bff's house for a BBQ. She has a ds a few months older than dgd and they are the best of friends - so lovely to see them as thick as thieves! Dgd is now getting to the age where she wants to play with other children, so I think we are going to have to start organising playdates.

    Things for today:

*[STRIKE] have a charity coming this morning to collect a sofa and chair sitting in the garage[/STRIKE]
    * gardening - am going to plant out my courgettes, pot on tomatoes, plant more radishes, lettuces, drill holes in some boxes to plant runner beans & dwarf french beans. Managed to get 12 x 6" canes while at my bff's house - so can now make the wigwams
*[STRIKE] job hunting activity[/STRIKE] applied for 2
    * flylady downstairs
    * [STRIKE]checked banking and transferred dgd's CB & money from dd (dd gave dgd £100 on Saturday!) into her savings account (account set up just for her money. I've been roughly spending about £60 a month on clothes, shoes and any toys/activities for her. So now have about £300 in savings just from her CB this year.[/STRIKE]
    * all meals from stores - spag for dinner
    * make cakes/biscuits/pastries for the week ahead. Will freeze a load

    Ok that'll keep me busy!

Eurgh sad times :( oh & I are arguing continually about the garden. Our ideas about what we want from it are completely different. He want a palacious chill pad with a sauna, firepit and lovely sofas.

He isn't happy with my makeshift containers for my vegetables and where they are placed in the garden (obviously in the sunniest spots. He's continually wanting to throw things away I've gathered to do things for the garden. It's really sad as we hardly ever argue, I mean don't get me wrong we of course have the odd disagreement and in the 8 years we've been together we have had the odd big row but honestly I can count those on my fingers, but over the weekend it has been continuous.

I keep saying I don't have the money to pay for all the things he wants at the moment, I would love to have lovely planters/pots etc but this year I can't. Need to work out how we can compromise and each get a bit of what we want...

update on this :j think we have found a compromise that won't cost *too* much, thinking around £60. Have spent all day clearing out the garage and about to do a run to the tip to get rid of a load of stuff. Have put a number of things on facebay for sale and a couple for free. Will put them on ebay later as well

While I'm out I'll get petrol, pick up a couple of bits needed from Lidl and return B&Q items not needed. Fingers crossed B&Q is having a planter sale...

    Anyway better get on x
