Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost

I've been driving a 1.0 Ecoboost Fiesta for a month or more and just over 1500mi, and it's 'OK'. Nothing special, IMO... It's quick enough, handles well enough, is equipped well enough (but no cruise control or centre armrest which does my head in), looks good enough, is comfortable enough, quiet enough, and economical enough (albeit only just touching 40mpg with care, miles off the 70ish Ford quote).
Sounds brilliant, though. That's the one thing I do like about it.
Apart from that, it's everything I would expect from a typical euro-box shopping car... Not really much. Perfect if you want a tool to do a job, but not really my thing. Perfectly decent car in most ways, just not one to set the pulse racing.
Luckily, Enterprise will have it back at some point.0 -

Mine has both, and I suspect that any model with a 123bhp engine will have them. I agree about the noise, at times it reminds me of an early Impreza, although it's the only thing that does.

I'd be interested to know which engine the one I have has, as it certainly seems quite pokey, and will happily sit at 70MPH in third gear if you wish without stress. Pulls well up to over 100MPH on the autobahn too. For the weight of the car I find it hard to believe it's only 100BHP, so I've been wondering whether it's a 123BHP, but don't know how to find out, really.
It may well be the spec I have is a hire-fleet special, but the armrest/CC thing really grates on me.0 -
It can be pretty difficult to work out what spec you have without paperwork to tell you, there's no badging on mine that would give away (it just has badges for Ecoboost and Fiesta on the back of mine) that it's a Titanium with the 123bhp engine. Maybe Ford have a website where you could enter the engine number (if you know where to find it) and it'll reveal some details about it.0

I'd certainly be interested to know, but I doubt I'll have the car much longer to be honest!0 -
Out of curiosity I popped the bonnet on mine to see if there is anything on the engine to indicate which version it is. There is a sticker next to the oil filler cap that has 124 on it, but with nothing to compare it to I can't say whether that's of any significance.
I have a suspicion that in fact all versions of the 1.0 Ecoboost engine are the same, just with a remap of the ECU to get more power (probably by increasing the turbo pressure among other things) so it may be impossible to tell just by looking at the engine.0 -

I would suspect the higher powered version may have a slightly different turbo and possibly a larger intercooler. Or the lower powered version may not even have an intercooler.
Fuel injectors could also be different.0 -

You could try ETIS.
It gives the full build spec of your car.
Even lists the differences to spec that are present on the Addison Lee Galaxys, they are not a factory spec.0 -
I test drove a red limited edition one today, 140 PS and it felt like a dream to drive. Definitely going to try and get one of those.0
