From 1 April, British passport-holders travelling to the US have needed a biometric passport (e-passport) in order to use the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) scheme.
Hundred's of thousands of UK passport holders may not be able to fly to the US after the rule change.
Let us know if these changes affect you and how.

Why the need for an identical thread?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

In all honesty the ETA requirements are going to screw a lot more people than the ones hit by the changes to the VWP.
ETA includes questions about medical conditions (which delay issuance) and severe restrictions on criminality. So no way can you do a last minute application if, for example, you have a long term medical condition.0 -

Do you mean the ESTA, if so I wasn't aware it asked about medical conditions, it never has done and I have applied for a few0 -

I see..although not sure how it is relevant to the OP as it is about entering the USA,and the ETA poster didn't mention Canada0 -
Canadian ETA, and I believe it will cause a lot of issues. About 27,000 British people flew to Canada in January alone, and ETA requirements are not generally known about.
The OP is a duplicate anyways, been known about for months but still manages to catch a lot of people out. IMO ETA will cause a lot more problems.0 -

That isn't strictly true is it, the question is 'do you have a SERIOUS health condition, not long term medical condition.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

You may be right, and if you had said the ETA needed to enter Canada, I wouldn't have asked the question
As you say tho it is a duplicate thread and can be deleted0 -
