    If it is a straightforward violation of the terms of the lease, then why would the freeholder grant the leaseholder permission in the first place? Most of your replies would make sense (and be correct that, indeed, a breach of the terms of the lease has occured), if the freeholder didn't grant permission in the first place and replied with 'absolutely, under no circumstances is wooden flooring allowed in the demise'. Fact is, it did not.

    It's fine. I rest my enquiry and bow out. I have my answers from friends and other leaseholders/freeholders. I was just trying to gauge a wider opinion and solicit any interesting cases/experiences.
