JSA claimants do not have to pretend to look for jobs 35 hours a week, you only need to comply with what's on your claimant commitment.
Ask for a written 'statement of reasons' why they've stopped your money, then put in a 'mandatory reconsideration, telling them all about your illness.
Try and get an appointment with CAB who may help.
The DWP should give you a written notification of a sanction, they can't just tell you. You should also claim hardship payments (60% of JSA rate) if you can convince them that having no money would cause you hardship??!!0 -

Thanks for your helpful post.
I've told JC Plus that I intendo to dothat, it's just it's messed up my budgeting plan for the next week or so, not to mention I have hardly any food to last a few days at best and have had to ask my parents for food as I don't have enough to last until Tuesday, when I should have been paid so if I'm not paid on Tuesday things will get very difficult. So the timing couldn't be much worse. I don't have any money except £1 in my bank account. Shame this couldn't happen a year ago when I was much more financially comfortable, oh no, it has to happen now that I'm penniless.
So going to job interviews is impossible anyway, unless they're walking distance. Or I get a lift. So now they have me exactly where they want me, in debt, penniless, starving, physically ill, mentally ill and totally isolated. Everything I tried all my life to avoid.0 -
You're now on JSA and unfortunately, expected to follow strict rules. You can agree or not to these, but if these have become so, it is because too many people on JSA were not actively seeking work, leaving them unemployed long term. The more active you are in your search, the more likely you'll get a job quicker, which is the aim.
Somehow, you must not have fulfilled your job plan and this is why you are sanction. Sore throat or not makes no difference, if you were ok enough to go to an interview, then you would have been deemed well enough to fulfill your obligations. People go to work with sore throats every day.
Being on JSA is no fun. It's stressful and pressurising, but no more than it will be to keep a job. It's how life is nowadays and unfortunately, it is better to comply. Of course, the outcome is worth it though as once you get a job, and then enough to earn a reasonable income, you get a sense of accomplishment and hopefully, the ability to afford some luxuries.0 -
Does a Doctors fit/sick note (whatever they call them now?) excuse you from any activity on JSA?
(I am in a similar situation having suddenly and unexpectedly given 0 points at ESA assesment after 15 years in IB/Support Group. But with my spinal problems I couldn't even get to the Jobcentre without a taxi and proper disabled access. Looking for work would be futile and pointless. )0 -

Ugguy, I do feel for you. Being unemployed is no picnic, and being on JSA is awful. Fbaby's post is excellent, and says all I would have said really.

All you can do is appeal to the better nature of the jobcentre, but I wouldn't hold out much hope.
Sore throat or not, you need to keep on with the jobsearch.
I do hope you get it all sorted soon, and I am sorry for your predicament. You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0
