Warning - replacement car while your car is fixed - practices of VEETEC MOTOR GROUP

I need to share an experience I had very recently with VEETEC MOTOR GROUP in Croydon. They provided a replacement car while my own car was being repaired from an accident - all paid by the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. When VEETEC returned my car I reported a small dent on the rental car which I had caused (penny size). The new dent was next to an existing dent on the same part of the car which had been marked when I took the rental car. VEETEC now forced me to pay GBP 322 on the spot or refusing otherwise to release my car. My strong view is that this amount was excessive given the size of the damage, but most importantly not necessary given this part of the car was already damaged. My suspicion is they charged another customer with a similar amount using the same pressure. Even the employee of Veetec who delivered the car agreed with me that this was excessive and not necessary at all since they only need to fix the part once.
Please be super careful when dealing with people who use these sorts of practices!!

But you damaged their car.
What was outlined in the terms and conditions of the rental?0 -
Are the rental cars not insured ?0

"Hire company expects customer to pay for damage caused by them whilst their expensive asset is in their care".
Move along, nothing to see here.0 -

Rubbish. They are profiteering from minor dings that are part and parcel of everyday motoring life. The panel was already damaged and the charge is excessive. Not sure what you can do about it though.0 -

Well, that's speculation based on the OP's word... But the OP doubtless signed up to the terms and conditions. He didn't have to.0 -

I have had my current car for over 3 years, ive done over 60,000 miles in it and it has no dents whatsoever during my ownership and none that i know of since it was made in 2003!, so its not something that is to be expected from driving a car!.
But a charge of £322 is not excessive considering a large portion of that is admin charges for paperwork, booking in repairs, driving it to the repair center, loss of revenue for a day while it is being repaired and the actual repair itself, so it soon all adds up.
If someone damaged my car i would expect to be paid the full cost of any repairs that are required and any expenses i will occur even if i chose not to actually get them done!0 -

its good you named them. I would never take out a coutosy car unless I really needed it.
Your insurance company is NOT your friend. they will refer you to these shysters because they make a comission. they dont care that they've set you up to get ripped off.
If this company was an approved repair by insurance then name and shame the insurance.0 -

!
That's the exception, not the norm.
In 30,000 miles/4 years of driving I have 4 dings on my car. All inflicted on my car while the car was parked.
2x rear wings, 1x rear bumper 1x boot hatch.0 -
So it is the Garages fault that you dented the car they gave you?
The absolute bounders.0
