Friday 6th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!:money:

    Good morning everyone :hello:
I feel a bit like this today  My anxiety is quite full on as I have a meeting with the Head this morning. It's a follow up meeting about my workload so should be ok but as always I am nervous about what might be said. I tend to have a very negative view on things in general when I feel like this. It's been almost a week now - I need to shake this feeling and get on with life today.
At least I have made it to Friday - happy days. Although I will have to bring at least 2 sets of books home to mark this weekend.
    Plans...
    check banking and PAD
    aim for nsd
 meeting with the Head (during my 1 free where I have a classroom to work in )
 try and get 10000 steps today as I haven't managed to get that all week :o
 sort marking to bring home
 make good use of my free time
    minimal housework
 get dd to cheer then gymnastics
 get ds to footy training
 make my very best effort not to start an argument with dh no matter how rubbish I feel by 8pm.
Have a good day out there. Hugs to all that need them. :A

Morning cat thanks for starting us off, was just about to post a new thread so good job I was faffing about :rotfl: hope the meeting with head goes ok, maybe that might provide a bit of 'closure' after that.

La E :T to hubby for getting the job.

One of the stressful situations went away last night when someone did something late on, so that should help today :j that, and it's Friday and it's sunny :D my list for today:

Moved money for a cheque that's gone out from one of my pots - I do love a good budget ;)
Check banking, FPL and surveys (less than £1 away from 1poll)
Washing overnight on 30 out to dry, managed to squeeze another half load on cheap leccy, will hang that out too
Pop to wholesaler and get stuff for family bbq tomorrow
Pop to town, take some shoes back and get present for party DD is at on Sunday
Work from home around ^^ ;)
    Run for free exercise
Out tonight with some friends, will walk and it won't be extravagant. We'll be sharing a pot of tea by about 9.30 if our last night out is anything to go by :rotfl:
Send mum link for a few bits I put on my wish list, I've got one of those birthdays with a 0 in soon and people have asked me what I would like. It's so hard when you're not used to spending money both on myself and full stop to list these things. I'm sure I'll get some comment that I have put door handles on there :rotfl:
Take photo of car seat and send to someone of Faceb00k
Call hm7c they have mysteriously taken my company car from my tax code :(
One thing from annoying things list - thanks foxglove

Think that's all, enjoy the sunshine everyone. PF.

    Morning All

Feel like I haven't had time to really join in this week so apologies.

DS has tonsilitus as diagnosed yesterday which has also given him a rash over his hands and arms. Weird as I have had it many times and never had a rash. Anyway he's off today.

Cat I do hope your meeting goes well. And that you try and relax as much as is possible.

Ia E congrats to your husband.

    Love to all

Gorgeous sunny day here. So glad it is Friday .

    Morning All

CCL - Thanks for starting us off today, hope your meeting with the head goes well

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Gosh I just can't seem to shake this exhaustion - so tired all the time, didn't sleep well either as went to bed in a bad mood and have woken up the same and really annoyed with DH, thanks to him clattering about like a lunatic at 5am. Today I will:

Packed lunch for DH - Done
Tidy round (as DH's 3 sisters are popping in this afternoon and I always feel they judge me - one actually said don't worry about house being untidy my friends is worse, it was tidy at the time ) - It was all ok, the "rude" one didn't come
List couple of bits for sale -
    Collect my Prescription - Done
All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer - Done
Buy small gift for SIL (as nothing suitable in gift cupboard) -
    Check Bank - Done
Check Passports (after watching news) as we're off to America in August (please keep everything crossed that they are ok and have this "chip") - Done, they are "chipped" - phew
Car in for it's MOT - Passed (just a couple of "advises") - another phew
    Ironing - Done
    Continue purge on Emails -
    Complete a few surveys -
    Read -
Enter a few comps - Done a few
Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win - Done
Check Lucky Phone, numberplatelotto, Ashleigh, etc - Done

Have a good day! I'll be pleased to make it through the day without strangling anyone. Love to you all!

    Morning all :)
Thanks for the start Cat - hope the meeting goes well and you manage to shake off your anxiety.
Bob, hope your DS is better soon. I seem to remember one of my children having a rash with tonsilitis.
Ziggy, my in-laws have always judged me too. Only I don't care now :D Hope you feel better soon :)
:hello: Hello to everyone else :)

    Today's list for me:
    Check banks
    Dog walks
Cleaning - not sure what, but boy is there plenty to choose from :rotfl:
    Post 2 ebay sales :)
List a few more items, I am determined to use all my free listings allowance each month to get rid of some junk!
    HM meals
Consider whether it is worth using a Sainsburys voucher to stock up on offers for the freezer
Check for surveys, FPL etc (already been screened out of an Ipsos survey)
Do some work in the garden, watering at least!
    Pick some more rhubarb :)
    Bit of ironing
Go to sales unit to make sure all is tidy for the weekend
    Walk all journeys
Reply to a party invitation :)

That should keep me out of trouble!
Hope you all have a good day, and that it stays lovely and sunny like yesterday :)
  • Morning all.....

CCL hope your anxiety subsides. I know how it feels, the past couple of months I have dropped a dress size and lost nearly a stone due to anxiety and stress.
    Bob oh no, sounds horrible.
Ziggy hope your exhaustion doesnt affect your day too much. I hate in-laws sometimes, real pain in the bum!

    Hi to everyone else...

Today is lovely and sunny, countdown until I am 30 this weekend  I have gone to my parents as usual so done a wash for them and snuck a few of DS' footy kit in :rotfl:Must try to eat something. Nursery run later. School run later. I have the house viewing today but am really not sure what to do. Its a lot of money (£1300 pm) and will leave us worse off. Plus I just fear being tied into private renting for the rest of my life. On the other hand I really want to leave my place. We have been on the council list for 9 months now and showing no signs of moving soon, I know it will be a long wait. Do I cut my nose off to spite my face? Or do I push through the hard times knowing a long way down the line, there will be some light? I just dont know what to do :( any advice massively welcome x

    Morning Campers,
Another lovely sunny day. That bloody headache is trying to make a return.....it's only from gunky sinuses after my recent lergy, that's all, but I think I will take a couple of painkillers immediately after I sign out so that it won't get any worse. OK, well, have achieved a few money saving bits today:
*Cleaned whole house using minimal products & washable cloths.
*A charity bag helpfully came plopping thru the door first thing so that was a nice free bin bag (I take donations straight to local charity shops as so many of the charity bags that come through our doors around here aren't quite what they seem).
*Took lamb curry (batch cooked from l/o Easter lamb) & l/o garlic rice out of the freezer for dinner. I think I'll do some spicy veg to have with mine as the curry/rice combo will be too high calorie.
    *Entered 3 competitions.
    *Did 4 surveys.
*Tweaked shopping list first thing......mr f is on an interviewing panel this morning & has a short day so volunteered to get the grocery shopping on his way past Aldi.
    *Watered veggie garden & plantlets.
*Updated my blog - am going to do this much more regularly for motivation (esp with catching up in the garden to maximise food supplies!)
    *Cut bunch of home-grown coriander.
*Removed a few dead blooms from my birthday flowers - they'll certainly last another 2 or 3 days.
Still to do: Sow more coriander & radishes & make a list of stuff I need to do in town tomorrow. All free leisure today.....a recorded TV programme, read more library book, continue with knitting order.
So that's me. Have a good day all,
    f x
