    Sorry to hear it's not solved. I think you're right that they will want to charge to come back, but if they do they will have to follow it through and find a definite problem.
    Are you saying it has been ok for three weeks and then suddenly started playing up?

    The problem has always only ever happened intermittently - I explained that to them when they first came. He couldn't get it to do it when he came unfortunately but just on the basis of the fan being noisy he was convinced that would be the problem with no further investigation.

    The problem often happens when the boiler first starts up in the morning... I'm not often around when that happens lol, just happened that this morning I happened to hear it as I was up v early. It may have done it before now.

    It's just a kind of revving noise that repeats for a few mins until it decides to fire up ok, not a huge problem until the day that it decides it's not going to fire up at all:rolleyes:

    According to the trading standards guy, they aren't allowed to charge anything extra though :confused:
