BT Termination

After 18 months, I have terminated my BT Infinity package and transferred to PlusNet.
BT have sent me a bag to return my home hub and Youview box. Do I have to return these? What happens if I don't?

    After extremely poor service, being very annoyed, frustrated & treated like dirt by BT, I switched to sky back in early March when the £105 a year deal was on here.

    I couldn't believe the cheek when they sent me the blue return bag as well.

    I used it to empty the remains of the router into (after I'd smashed it up with a hammer), then dumped it in the bin.

    They never charged me for it, I didn't hear off them again (2 months later now), nor will I ever go back to them.

    Hope this helps. :)

    If you don't return them there will be a charge. This will be mentioned somewhere in your contract.

    As long as you are out of contract the equipment is owned by you (not BT) so you don't have to return them.

    There's two reasons you could be asked to return the equipment ;
    1) it belongs to the ISP and there will be a charge if not returned,
    or
    2) so unwanted electrical items can be disposed of responsibly (rather than being smashed with a hammer and put in the bin)

    When you leave a supplier, why on earth wouldn't you just return the old equipment if they ask for it?

    After 12 Months the Youview box is yours, it can be used as a recordable freeview box. Likewise last Year they sent us a returns package, we just binned it. We still use the Youview box.

    Because you own it (not the supplier) and it has value to it - either to reuse yourself, or sell it on if not needed. Why would you give it away ?
