    Thread resurrection time!

Since Novemeber, we saw another property in a different area. The seller was an old Dorris (apologies to any Dorris' here) who was living alone and was moving to stay with family.

Our offer was accepted (£270k) which was (a) stretching but not maxing our budget and (b) came with all 3% of the stamp duty that we were trying to avoid. The whole process went through without any hitches.

End result is that as of February, we are finally home-owners!

    Back to the story...

While we were mightly p*ssed off with the original estate agents and seller, we never informed them that we were pulling out of the purchase.

Out of the blue, I had a phone call yesterday from the original estate agent.
(spookily - I had deleted the number from my mobile phone a couple of days before, but I still recognised the number).
She informed me that the seller was now about to put the property back on the market (funny, how we weren't offically told it was off the market the first time) and if we were still interested, we should let them know - otherwise, they will start marketing it again.

The seller was asking for £265k and would move into rented accomodation once agreed.

I told her that I would have to discuss it with my wife and would she call me back later (what, you think I'd pay to call them back?). It looks like the seller has seen the peak of the market and wants to bail out at the top...

We have asked to view the property again, but have not confirmed a day/time. We are in no rush, after all.

We are now in a position to have a little fun at their expense...

Couldn't get more than £250,000 last April and wants £265,000 now?

    What a moron she is.

Send all your mates round to look as well. I just hate people who can't be honest.

Congratulations on your new home

Do you have a Rightmove link for us to slag off?
    It's our specialism.
We're really rather good ... and on the basis we don't need to hold back, it might make an interesting Friday afternoon project

So they hadn't even been told you'd pulled out and just assumed.

Only thing I can think is that your solicitor told them, because EAs do have contact with the solicitors for both parties.

I'd be tempted to do damage while round there to the tune of whatever the failed purchase cost you, but of course that would get you arrested.
