I don't get to post much but read daily, but I know someone on here will be able to help with this.
It's my LO's first birthday on Thursday and I want to make a cake (only second one ever, first was on daughters first birthday!).
How much ready to roll icing do you think I'll need to make this ? http://veganantics.co.uk/shop/full-sized-vegan-cakes-collection/dinosaur-cake/
Just the green - it comes in 250g packs (tesco) and I'm sure one of each colour would be OK for the blue / yellow / white - but will 3 do it for the green ? or should I buy white and food colour and dye it myself (the colours look a bit insipid on tesco website.
and do you think a victoria sandwich would be OK underneath (my maderia attempt 3 years ago wasn't great !)
thanks :beer::D
I tend to buy the white icing and colour it myself - mainly because I don't like the taste of the pre-coloured icing and because the colours are never quite how I want them to be. Like PD said though the 'liquid' food dyes are pants. If you do decide to colour the icing yourself it's worth noting it always takes a lot longer than I expect - I tend to do it the day before now!purpledonkey wrote: »I know exactly what you mean. I've rarely made a cake that translates precisely from my thoughts. I'm hoping to this week though - a child through this charity I bake for, has requested a fire engine or car cake, so sod it going to try and make one! I usually make flat cakes as they're easy to transport and London is full of bloody speed bumps :rotfl:
I've made a fire engine cake before and made my poor husband hold it on his lap all the way to the party - he looked very nervous :rotfl:0 -

There really wasn't that much difference in price - Disney passes are the same price for one week or two, hotels and car hire were not that much different either. Paris is gonna be fab for you all :j
It will be a full on week for you all:cool: you will need a holiday to recover when you get back:rotfl::rotfl:
I bet you have each day planned like a military exercise:D:D

Random, but does anyone on here know anything about phone installations. Need phone installing into shop, and been told that it can only be fibre. Was meant to have engines out today. So annoyed
That is a load of twaddle!
No phones are only on fibre, did you say phone or did you just say phoneline, are you after internet on it too? Even if that is the case you should not be only offered fibre.
Also, who told you that, was it BT? If it was BT I suggest you contact another supplier (don't know who is available in your area) and ask them the same questions.
I am making the assumption you are trying to get a phone LINE installed?
In all honesty it should be just a case of livening up the line that is almost certainly already into your shop (do you have a socket behind the counter perhaps).What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

We have to :eek: the main priority is the wedding two days after we land. The plan is to do water park on day one, wedding day two, Magic kingdom day three then we don't know because it's a bank holiday weekend and it'll be rammed :eek: would quite like a beach day in Miami but so would thousands of other people so we don't know yet. The rest if the group are disney'ing but we don't want to for more than a day. We're already gonna be at MK from opening until after the fireworks :eek::eek:

You can't do the water park the day before the wedding, you WILL burn, it is unavoidable!
