I'm as diverse as they go and really have no objection to whatever celebration anyone wants....some I partake in and some I dont partake in..I'm very aware it's Ramadam at the moment and whilst its not a faith I follow I am understanding of its significance to those that do
but I will wish our wonderful monarch and her dashing husband the very best on their special birthdaysfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

bloody lightweight.
I only usually have 1 drink with my lunch when I go.
However, I have been known to go with quite a few when attending a family celebration meal.
I'm surprised I'm still getting away with it to be honest. :rotfl:N1LDA0 -

in 2016 we are being knuckled down to not upset any other religion
i mean the queens birthday where is the harm in that
whilst the people of other religions will not knuckle down to what is our right to celebrate birthdays etc
if our traditions upset them that much why don't they build and fund their own schools
or just ignore it if they don't like it .....as there is plenty of things i don't agree with in different religions and countries but i do not protest about them ..i accept that people are entitled to their own opinions
do you think these countries would not celebrate their traditions if we lived in their countries and it offended us
now i am not wishing to upset any religion from catholics to buddists
and all the rest of the religions
but we need to get a back bone and put a stop to all of this and happy holidays for xmas
we don't protest when other religions want to celebrate their traditions
and we should uphold all of our traditions and ceremonies after all
we do have a lady as our head of state and long may she rule
happy birthday philip
happy birthday to our queen
how many people on here will wish our lizzie and phil a happy birthday
let's see how many like this post or how long before the post is removed because my opinion offends

Well said underperky.
My family is Irish (and so Catholic) and I have lived through the trials and tribulations and horror of the chequered past our two countries share.
Queen Elizabeth II is the greatest monarch this country has ever had, will ever see and along with the first Elizabeth, I think, the bravest. When she walked down the steps of the plane in Dublin and then started her banquet speech by speaking in Gaelic I cried.
She has served her country with honour and a dignity that most days appear to be forgotten traits in other sectors of this society.
I am not a monarchist but the very least that I can do is wish her a Happy Birthday.
I believe as an English woman that is the very least I owe her but as an Irish woman I think I owe her more
