Just heard from my friend her hubby has come through open heart surgery today, phewwwwww, although in ICU

    Glad to hear this xx

Oh gosh, sorry Sarah. I didn't mean to make anyone cry. I've had a cry this evening. However, I have cheered myself up with a bottle of wine. Probably not ideal, but after the last 24 hours I really don't care. :o

Don't apologise LS, it was lovely to read and I just felt all the love you have xx

    Morning all
Been mia as mum rushed to hospital as extremely weak. Doctor told us 2 days ago she hasn't got long left, kidneys failing, could be breast cancer diagnosed 8 years has spread, but she is fighting hard and seems stronger each day so here hoping Hopefully, they are starting tests today to see if they can pin point whats up.
Up early today (head buzzing I think from last few days) so thought would catch up on here and see what I missed.

Well 2 weeks ago I posted the above and thank you to the numerous people who replied with best wishes type posts :)
Mum had numerous tests and it was discovered the cancer has spread to her bones, particularly sternum and ribs. However, from going to Drs thinking she only had one or 2 days left, mum has improved so much, she looks so alert, is feeding herself again, getting argumentative (a good sign lol) and actually seems like there is nothing wrong with her now. When she was first admitted 2 weeks ago, she said very weakly she is going to fight this and indeed she has with every ounce of energy she has. The culprit to her bone pain, confusion, was calcium being leaked from her bones into her blood stream causing Hypercalcemia and if u google this she had every symptom going but taking her to the GPs, walk in clinic, gp nurses numerous times, they just said it was arthiritis and possibly early signs of dementia. Mum must have been in tremendous pain since Christmas as that is when we first noticed her deteriorating i.e. bone pain, confusion.
Anyway, today there is going to be a MDT meeting to decide what treatment she will be having. 2 weeks ago they were talking about palliative care. Now mum has improved so much I'm hoping she might be ok to have treatment to "cure" the cancer. Well I know it cant be cured but I hope you know what I mean i.e. radio therapy, etc. She is 83 this year, so I think they will say its palliative care but knowing mum this will go on for years. Blimey I'm rambling now but thinking out loud.
Anyway, please send positive cyber thoughts etc that the MDT will choose the best option for mum :)

Mum went completely off her food about 2 weeks ago but liked the mullers, hence my many messages asking about them :o Thank you OPs for the mullers from my mum :D

Oh bubbs, glad it's done now, but God bet that's hard on her relying in others and public transport to get there.

Gocat, so pleased for you and your mum now the docs have found out what's wrong, good luck with it all. Take care xx
