The MRI scans won't tell them anything regarding your ability to move around and the pain you are in. The scans will show some degeneration but that could be anything. Someone could have spinal disc degeneration which looks much worse than yours on the MRI scan but they could be in little pain at all and able to move around quite comfortably. My OH does have SDD and has had an MRI but it doesn't affect her much at all she just takes painkillers such as Tramadol as and when needed.

I think you must have made it appear you could do more than you really could do. You are supposed to tell them about your worst days during the claim period and not about what you can do on your best days.

youre supposed to tell them about good and bad days.

to restrict it to one or the other isn't giving a clear picture

    And
Step 7) Apply for PIP. From what was written earlier you stand an excellent chance of being awarded this. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/help-with-your-pip-claim/how-to-claim/

If successful a standard Daily Living award is c.£55 pw. You may then qualify for premiums on your ESa. If you live alone - the Severe Disability Premium of c.£62 pw could be payable - http://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/severe-disability-premium

This is stuff your local CAB can tell you about / help with your application, so please do contact them.

    I forgot:
Step 8) If you are in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax support, then notify your council of your situation. If you don't they are likely to stop HB / CTs as they will have been told by the DWP that your ESa has stopped. And will assume that you are now working!!!
You will need to complete a Council Nil Income Form. Get a receipt for this and keep it somewhere safe.

If the OP has anything like my spinal condition (it would appear so from his description) then He probably won't have any good days.

    I know I don't.

I tried to attach a sad face, never can get that.

i repliwd to a post that said ' you're supposed to tell them about your worst days...'
i merely pointed out that you need to tell them about good days, average days AND bad days, in order to give an accurate picture of your condition.

br days are all the same too ... so i have no need to only tell them about the 'worst ' days ;)

About 14 years ago a hospital surgeon pointed out something in the MRI scans and said this is the problem thats causing you pain. But it all went over my head because I didn't know how a healthy spine is supposed to look, and what the difference is.
The DA asked me what it stopped me from doing and, as I told her, even lifting my arms off the chair rests adds to the weight on my spine and increases the pain, so I can't do anything without pain and for a Work Capability Assessment the correct answer is I can't do it at all. I don't know how many points all that adds up to, but its certainly over 15.

The DWP has launched a consultation aimed at slashing the number of people eligible for the daily living component of personal independence payment (PIP) by up to 35%. The cuts will be aimed at claimants who qualify for PIP because of their use of aids and appliances and may include replacing awards with discretionary voucher payments.

Very soon (January 2017 i believe) the points system will change whereby you only get 1 point for the use of an aid or appliance, this means that the majority of people who get the standard rate for care will lose it.

I have just been reassessed for PIP, I received enhanced mobility from standard due to severe spinal problems, not dissimilar to the OP yet, unbelievably my standard care stayed the same.
I have appealed, my appeal date is 18th May, really looking forward to it!

Hi, i maybe wrong here but was this over turned by the Goverment the other week ?

    So its still 2points ?

You're wrong with this. They changed it and this isn't going to happen now.
