DLA paid 4 weekly when does it count as savings?
ESA paid fortnightly when does that count as saving?
e.g. if you are paid £300 esa and it takes you over the £6,000k limit are you counted as being over the limit immediately or 2 weeks later, or for dla does a payment take you over them limit immediately or 4 weeks later?
Thanks

No but if you let it build up without spending it surely it is counted when assessing for another means tested benefit.0 -
It doesn't count as savings until the end of the payment period.
So if your DLA takes you over the savings limit for other benefits, it's not counted until the end of the four weeks, for ESA it's the end of the two weeks.
It's a bit different with back pay that comes as a lump sum.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
it is the end of the period for which it is paid.
so ESA becomes capital onn the day you receive the next payment.
the same applies to DLA,
miss biggles ... the OP isn't asking if it is means tested, rather when it starts to be classed as capital ( if unspent)0 -

They could also be saving for an expensive piece of equipment.
Either way, it doesn't affect eligibility.0 -
If they are letting it build up without spending it they don't need it in my opinion.
Its up to the individual how they spend/save their money.
What you are saying is someone who shops at waitrose and eats out 4 nights a week to avoid money building up is fine. However someone who shops at lidl never eats out and buys all yellow sticker food isn't entiled to the same amount.0
