Anyone got a pie maker?

I got a Salter pie maker a couple of months ago and I can honestly say it's one of the best things I've ever bought.
Some gadgets just get used a few times then end up in the back of a cupboard... not this time
.
There are only two of us - I'm vegetarian and Mr Tiddly is a carnivore through and through... so this makes a quick evening meal so much easier.
Every few days we each have a pie filled with leftovers and they have all been really tasty - and only take 14 minutes from switching on to hot on the plate.
This model does nice big deep pies and the crust is always golden and not soggy.
My favourite filling at the moment is mushy peas on the bottom, veggie mince in the middle then leftover mash or chopped broccoli on top... all inside one pie. Served with gravy or parsley sauce - lovely
.
Anyone else want to admit to the secret use of a pie maker?

I'd like to own one, but it's just me - and, although I LOVE pies, I have to restrict my pastry intake else I'd be the size of a large planet.
I probably only eat 6-8 pies/year, max.... so it's just not worth it.
I do spend a lot of time looking at the adverts for them though
I just checked my spreadsheet, four months into the year and I've eaten two pies this year.0 -

I must admit this gadget is turning me into a chief pie eater - but it's blooming lovely. I suppose I could 'go healthy' and use wholemeal... I could....
.
I've been having leftovers as a meal in a pie - no need to have anything else but veggies.
Here's the model I've got:

A rhubarb and custard pie is next on my list - I think one of those would be enough for two portions.
You can also make tarts as well... so less pastry.
Do I sound like an addict?
You could cook one pie at a time or make two and freeze one.
Homemade pies can be so much healthier than shop bought ones.:hello:0 -
I live within a 10 mile radius of Hollands' - I'm pretty sure my postie wouldn't deliver it.
Plus it makes 2 at a time, and I've 3 teens and a husband.
The speed though...
Nope - I'll stick to teaching the lads how to cook.0 -
My pie maker was the item that ended up in the back of the cupboard .... together with the waffle maker!
Both recently got donated to my local charity shop.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

I can understand the waffle maker as it looks like being a faff... I guess we're all different.
There must be people out there who make waffles and thinks it's the best thing ever.
I'll stick with my pies.

Ooh, do you put potato in it?VfM4meplse wrote: »Yes you do! But you have got me interested, even though pie is not something I would usually eat. But since I'm not eating sugar, part of me is thinking what the hell?
The pie maker has saved so much time and money - it's even quicker than getting a takeaway on those really lazy evenings where you've been out all day and have no energy left for anything too labour intensive but fancy some comfort food.
Had barbecue beans and leftover potato and veggie sausages at the weekend with mashed carrot on the side... sound odd I know, but it was lovely.
Go on... you know you want to.
