I bought the Salter pie maker from Amazon Warehouse so got it for £18 but didn't have the pastry cutters worse luck.
I have made the cheese and onion pies and apple pies.
I make huge quanties of pastry and freeze it separated. I use pastry with SR flour for the lid of pie as someone said its rises.
I love mine and it's in cupboard when not used next to soup maker which I use a lot as well.0 -

Has anyone used filo pastry in them? I'd be interested to hear how well it worked.
Good grief, wholemeal with nuts and seeds, that's adventurous for a pie maker.
I keep meaning to try wholemeal in the machine but I love stodge and so my motivation is low.
As to Filo - not tried it in the pie maker - as a lid it would be OK but not sure how it would cook as a base.I use pastry with SR flour for the lid of pie as someone said its rises.
Ooh, have you noticed any difference with using SR for the lid?
P.S. Now I've got a problem - I've already made the lentil chilli for dindins tonight BUT now I really, really, REALLY want a pie.
I might have to combine the two - lentil chilli pie.

Sorry just see your question. It makes a little bit of difference but if u didn't know the top was made with SR flour u think it was Just plain flour.
I had a disaster making apple pies as I had apples cut up and frozen so defrosted them and put them in the pie cut up when really I should have mashed the apple up as when it had finished cooking there was hardly any apple in the pies.
Cheese and onion is my favourite pies.0
