ASDA Govan store - SMART parking fine.

Hi,
Received a fine from Smart for parking in the asda store for longer than the allotted time. By my own admission I saw the sign and risked it as was going to the Rangers game and had no where else to park 5 mins before kick off!
Reading a lot of old posts saying I can just ignore the notice anyway in Scotland? But wondering if this has changed recently.
Only got 2 days left to pay it so a quick reply would be appreciated!

Done my research now, won't be paying it. Won't be complaining to Asda either, just won't park their again when in a hurry haha.
Thanks.0 -
But don't play fast and loose in future. Whilst they have no legal basis in Scotland we still don't approve of people abusing the car parks.0

I agree, was a genuine one time thing as I always pay to use the clubs car parks at £7 but they were all full as I was late arriving and it was a sold out crowd. If Asda had the option of paying I would of paid but £40 for parking is just a clear rip off that I definitely won't be paying.0

Actually, Smart PArking at ASDA Govan has established form for playing fast and loose with their own parking regs - Notably applying "special" match-day only restrictions that were not reflected in any signage and particularly impressively, magically turning all their P&C spaces into "disabled" spaces, despite no change in markings, signage nor any relevant TRO in force.
So, f*ck-em, basically!
eta - I thought SMART had been sacked by ASDA a couple of months ago, so what's going-on?0 -
Definitely not been sacked as this was 2 weekends ago now! Heard that smart also have guys who walk around the car park taking registrations of cars at the B+M store nearby too. Just going off what other fans have said to me at the football not actually saw it myself.0

Asda's contract with Smart should have ended on 30th April 2016.

I would have received this fine on the 23rd April 2016, so just before that date. Still won't be paying as if they have given up the contract and don't have any involvement with Asda car parks any more surely that will lessen the chance of them chasing it up? Even though I realise now that is tiny anyway!0

Just because they have lost the contract doesn't mean they won't keep trying to scam you. The opposite has happened with other PPCs when they have lost contracts and intensified their efforts.
Expect lots of bog paper from Smart and debt collectors for up to five years.
If you get one of these you can heat your home for free with all the bumf you will probably be getting.
