Losing my rag with our vendor

I feel for you bambi as I'm in a similar situation. We were due to exchange last week, but then found out that our buyers had gone on a holiday and not got the deposit sent to the solicitor. They've come back and still have the nerve to make us feel as though we're the ones at fault. We're so far in that it's not worth pulling out now. They plan to exchange in a weeks time, so I get we'll just have to bite the bullet and wait.
Although I must add, you can't really hold the vendors responsible as you shouldn't have moved out of your property....At least not until you had exchanged with your purchase.0 -
I totally agree that it's not the vendor's fault that we moved out etc but we were told a couple of weeks ago that she wouldn't let her onward purchase affect our sale and that's exactly what she's doing. Anyone would be annoyed at that! The date was agreed and now she's reneged on it. I had to book time off work otherwise I ran the risk of not being available if it had gone through on that date.
I don't want to start messing about with money as its not my style we just want to show them that they're messing us about now. It's unfair that we've not got a leg to stand on!0 -
perhaps the other person also has problems further up the chainI totally agree that it's not the vendor's fault that we moved out etc but we were told a couple of weeks ago that she wouldn't let her onward purchase affect our sale and that's exactly what she's doing. pleased your not buying my house.....would have told you to bog off0 -
It's very easy as a vendor to say things flippantly e.g. They won't let their purchase affect the sale. The reality is quite different, you're talking about someone's home and their life. yes I would be annoyed that they've changed their minds but that's just how house selling goes. Maybe ask for a longer period between exchange and completion to give you time to sort leave etc?Determined to save and not squander!

Sounds like you've communicated via the estate agent.. So they could be bending the truth and just saying yes when the vendor is unsure0

There's no point in suggesting or even attempting to agree a completion date until exchange. Simply too many variables to factor in. Everybody in the chain has their own interests to consider.
When did you receive your mortgage offer?0 -
you've caused most of the problems yourself
How? By filling in forms and returning them on time? Doing what was asked of me? Being honest? Expecting answers? How would you feel if you'd been messed about and you'd prepared for something then let down. It's not just me its my family too.0 -
