You'll get loads of keyboard warriors on here telling you how terrible it is if you just keep quiet, when the truth is that the vast majority of them would do just that.

Absolutely not, and its disgusting you would even imply that. Guess we all now know what your morals are.

Being honest and knowing right from wrong does not make one a keyboard warrior.

    Are you psychic?

Or just making it up as you go along?

I placed an order online and the next day cancelled part of it. I was told I would have the cancelled amount refunded to my card but they have actually refunded the full amount. Do I have to pay up the difference when they have made the mistake?

Legally you still owe them the money, and they have 6 years to chase you for it. However, just like they almost certainly wouldn't chase you if you'd overpaid, you are under no legal obligation to inform them that you've underpaid.

    Actually I wouldn't & dont.

Went to a restuarant a fortnight ago and the bill came minus the desserts.

Told the waiter who went to get the bill amended but came back with only one dessert now on the bill.

Pointed this out to the waiter but he just rolled his eyes and told me to forget it.

Trying to sort this sort of problem out can get awkward and time consuming, I would just keep the money until they ask for it.

So people with morals are keyboard warriors?

How exactly do you know that the majority of posters would keep the money. Just because you might be willing to keep something that isn't rightfully yours doesn't mean that everyone has the same standards as you.

The thing that baffles me the most about your post is that you've criticsed people based on ZERO evidence, in favour of OP who has provided SOME evidence of potentially being a dishonest person.

Why aren't you having a go at OP? They fit the criteria for this "vast majority" you speak of!

    Two truths must be observed:

    1. OP is testing the water here. Trying to figure out whether it is worth the risk. Why? Because the moral thing is obviously just to pay it back at little to no inconvenience to you. OP is obviously trying to justify keeping the money.

    2. SOME people will keep the money, but certainly not the "vast majority". They just don't make posts like this and so force third parties (ie you) to resort to unfounded allegations (assuming you do not work for the selling company or are associated with the buyer).

In a nutshell, the "vast majority" are innocent until proven guilty.

Would an honest person like you have proclaimed yourself to be in a previous post not repay them without question rather than wait?
