Mass cards.

I have a question I'd like to ask please.
If you have a friend who loses someone close , do you send a mass card if you yourself are not religious?
I want to do the right thing and buying the card though it is meaningless to me is not a problem if the receipt of it gives comfort and support.
I have a notion that I once heard that the number of these received is important. If that's the case then I'd send a Mass card, if it's not true then Just a sympathy card.
Any idea?

I presume this is a Catholic friend? Never heard of a mass card so have never sent one even to a Catholic. I'm not Catholic so would send a sympathy card.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I am catholic and have never heard of a mass card. I would personally appreciatd just an ordinary sympathy card with a few kind words chosen by the sender xmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I don't know what a mass card is!
Most people send a nice card 'in sympathy'. Whether you're religious or not makes no difference.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -
There are two different things I think you may be thinking of ..
Funeral cards are handed out to those attending many Catholic funeral masses (traditionally) with the name of the deceased on them, asking those present to pray for them. If that is what you were thinking of then they are provided by the family organising the funeral.
You could also pay for a mass to be said for the deceased, and send a card saying you have done that.
If you are not sure - just send a normal "With Sympathy" card.0 -
Mass cards are the norm in Norm in both Southern and Northern Ireland so if they are based in either area then getting one of these would be a kind thing to do and as far as I am aware yes some level of comfort can be had from the receipt of them.0

A Mass card will be given to you by the priest - to give to the relatives - saying that you have paid for a Mass to be said for the deceased and giving the date and time so that they can attend if they wish.
It would normally be in addition to a sympathy card.0 -

Not in North or Southern Ireland as they can be purchased in shops.0 -
My inlaws were Catholic. Mass cards were very much appreciated.0
