Claiming for smashed TV on home insurance

I literally took out home insurance on Friday last week, and this morning my little boy has grabbed the leg of the tv and pulled the whole thing off the TV unit. It fell frontwards onto the floor and the screen is smashed. Luckily he wasn't hurt thank goodness. The sound is fine but the screen is blank. My question is will my insurance cover me for this so soon after signing up?? I've heard stories of simple phone enquiries making your premiums go up so I'm a bit hesitant to even ring up and enquire.
The TV cost us around £600 in the January sales. The guy at the repair shop said for the price of a repair I'd be better off buying a new one, hence why I'm looking at the insurance route.
My previous home insurance was with my bank, their renewal price was ridiculous so I switched companies hence why this is a brand new policy. I did include accidental damage onto the policy.
Any advice much appreciated, thanks!

TV might have to be picked up and taken for inspection. They then try to match up the actual damage with your description of the accident to see if it adds up. Given the recent purchase of the policy, they might do this.
Or they simply arrange for it to go to inspection and if not repairable organise a replacement subject to you paying the excess.
On top of your excess, factor in a 10 to 20% increase in your annual premiums for about 3 years assuming no other claims or other increases in risk.
If you think it is worth it, simply phone to make a claim and follow the Insurers process. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

There is no waiting time if that's what you mean. Assuming your old policy expired one day and new policy started the next day, then its just one of these things. If there was a gap in cover, expect more questions.0
