Issue cancelling EE contract
Hi all, I have an issue cancelling my EE contract. My minimum period on my contract arrived in March and I decided to take on a contract with another company. Because I've recently been away so haven't had a chance to ring EE and therefore decided to write to them to inform them that I'd like to cancel and to accept that as my 30 days notice, and the direct debit would be stopped in 30 days. I didn't hear anything and had no access to my post as I was away so guessed it had gone through okay. I have now returned home and have 2 bills for the last two months, so clearly it didn't.
I thought the law stated that a company must accept a postal contract cancellation but I may be wrong, I am going to call EE but I just wondered if anyone had any advice on what to say or where I stand before I do as I don't want to pay £100 I don't owe!
Thanks all!

As long as you have proof of them receiving the cancellation you could try a complaint.
Of course, even if you have a signature for delivery of the letter it's still not really proof of them receiving the cancellation, theoretically you could have sent a blank piece of paper...
Always best to follow up a cancellation letter with a phone call, or the safest way of all is to get a PAC and port the number away, it's the only 100% guaranteed manner of termination on the date you choose.====0 -
You may also have a negative entry on your external credit files - which will stay there for 6 years, if so, and cause far worse problems than an extra 2-3 months of EE bills.0
