This is a common symptom on windows 10 with some versions of the Intel Management Engine Interface Driver (IMEI). If the laptop vendor has a version >= 11.0.0.1173 try that, otherwise use Device Manager, find the IMEI device and revert to the original version of the driver supplied by Windows 10.
I have 11.0.0.1160
The asus website offers me 11.0.0.1162
Will try that ....
Well, I D/L'd
MEI_Intel_15m_Win10_64_Ver11001162.zip
I unzipped it
I asked Device Manager to 'update driver' by pointing it to the unzipped folder.
It told me that the driver was up to date!
I went to the Unzipped folder.
Ran SetupME
It went through the install process, but D.M. still said 11.0.0.1160
I went back to the unzipped folder
Ran the setupME as an administrator
There were then two options:-
1. remove the product from your computer
2. Repair errors in the most recent installation by fixing missing and corrupt files, shortcuts, and registry entries
I chose Option2 and I .... think ..... that it's ok now ....
