This is UEFI BIOS. I'm not familiar with but something like this...(if you google your model you may get more accurate information).
To get the DVD drive to show up in the boot menu, you might need to go into the BIOS (actually (U)EFI Settings) and enable Legacy (BIOS) Mode or the UEFI Compatibility Support Module (CSM) or similarly worded option.
Note: You might also have to disable both Boot / Fast Boot and Security / Secure Boot ControlIf you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
If I do a full Troubleshoot / Reset this PC from my W 10 DVD (which I have managed to get it to boot from)
Would that 'fix' the BIOS???
EDIT again .....
Think I'm way out of my depth BUT .... in the BIOS, I changed 'Launch CSM' to 'enabled' and it has booted into W10 ..... twice
Just rebooting now ..... which it seems to be doing correctly ..... better go and do something more useful!!
Thanks0 -
I'm back
On the new PC
It works!!

Anyway, going back to my original query .....
I click on restart, it says it's restarting (white spinning circle on blue background with 'restart' text) but then it just switches off!0 -
BUMP
I'm getting to the bottom of this ....
Once PC is off and charger disconnected, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then the problem disappears briefly.
Secondary problem - shut down at night, disconnect charger ... by morning, the battery is flat!
If I hold power button as above, once shut down, battery is still full in the morning!
I've been back to Asus, who after several e mails have decided that Upon further investigation, the serial number is for a refurbished
product which does not have warranty with Asus.
I've spoken to the eBay seller, but no reply as yet
Any thoughts?0 -
Did you disable fast boot? (It worked for me with a Dell)
(these instructions may not be correct for your laptop)

It's disabled in Windows, and too 'scared' to go into BIOS (after previous experiences see earlier in this thread)
Maybe later today ......0 -
Any other suggestions?
There is no sign of any UEFI, so I suspect it ain't there!
The seller has replied now and sent a pre-paid label for me to return it.0 -
This is a common symptom on windows 10 with some versions of the Intel Management Engine Interface Driver (IMEI). If the laptop vendor has a version >= 11.0.0.1173 try that, otherwise use Device Manager, find the IMEI device and revert to the original version of the driver supplied by Windows 10.
