Really sorry to hear about your accident, splashsplash. Joints can be funny things, so take your time in recovering.
I came home early and rested for a bit, since the sickness subsided I have been troughing: cherries, Weetabix, stewed apples - you name it, it's gone down my cakehole. Apart from sugar, of courseValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thank you, glad the migraine lifted.
Buckwheat flour pasta is surprisingly good! The base was crispy and crunchy and held the toppings very well. The texture was slightly biscuity and quite different from a yeast dough but pleasing. Will definitely use it again.
I used potato starch instead of tapioca flour and I think the dough was a little drier than the recipe suggested, but it handled quite easily. I rolled/spread it on the bottom of a spray-oiled baking tray and it was great. I kept the centre very thin, thicker at the edges and blind baked the base for 20 minutes. I think 190 in my oven was a little hot once the toppings were on, 170 would be plenty next time.
Today was soup and salad for lunch, dinner tonight will be crispy chilli beef w/rice, carrots and broccoli. I now have batches of sugar free ketchup and chilli jam, so no added sugar in anything.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Last night I was out and not hungry in the least, although I could have done with a nice latte. I was confronted by a buffet full of Indian food which I found not in the least bit tempting. What really caught my eye were some flabby-looking donuts covered in icing and pink and blue hundreds and thousands. In the end I has some poor quality pizza, although I'm not sure why! I couldn't get the donuts out of my head on my journey home, even though I don't much like the taste. Less than 3 months ago I would have polished a pack of 4 in less than a day: one with my mug of tea was never enough, so then I would have another. A short while later I would want sugar and eat another third, then another and finally the last. The fourth in the pack would have been a "sod it, let's finish it whilst it's still fresh"
It seems I still have a long way to go.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I'm the same, if I have anything sweet in the house then I can't stop until it's finished.0

I treat myself to a 90% bar of dark choc a week, it's only 7g of sugar per 100g, I eat a 1/5 of it a day, so not much sugar, for a change I thought I would try the 85% one as it was on offer, with 13.5g of sugar in 100g, wow it was like sucking on a sugar cube, I didn't enjoy it at all had to spit it out.
I haven't tried coke etc yet but if I do, hope I get the same reaction.
Well done on not going for those donuts, they were one of my favs too.0 -
Holland and Barrett stock Plamil no added sugar chocolate - not cheap but it doesn't contain sugar (or dairy, or gluten). Might be worth it for emergencies? 72% cocoa.
I had curried eggs yesterday with rice and salad for dinner. No idea why, I haven't had curried eggs in years. Yellow hummus and salad for lunch.
I tried the frozen banana ice-cream recipe before but was underwhelmed by it. I have since found that pretty much any frozen fruit (mango, berries etc) blitzed with a can of full fat coconut milk and some maple syrup makes a much nicer ice cream. Just freeze the blitzed mixture in single portion containers. I use baby food pots. If you freeze the whole lot together, it doesn't thaw properly.
Today: salad for lunch; stuffed cabbage for dinner.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

not heard of curried eggs, think I'll try that. what curry paste do you use? no sugar?
Not sure but the H&B choice might have a sugar alternative in it?
I have now found a 96% one and there are 100% ones too, so going to try those.
I also found a 70% one with only cocoa and milk, no sugar! so might give that one a go too!
I've had to buy the Lindt 90% for now, as the Greens and Black one was uneatable.
Just weighed myself today, and in the last month lost 9llbs, with 6.6 of that being fat, so pleased with that..well I was a bit disappoint as 9 doesn't sound that much, but after thinking about it, I didn't start this for the weight loss, and I haven't limited at all the amount of food I eat, so hitting the top of the healthy weight loss range of 2llbs a week, which seems to be the stated healthy amount to lose in a week, is not to bad really!0 -
Yesterday I wasn't hungry but was scratching round for something naughty...like ice-cream! - although I knew I wasn't going to find any at home. Sweet treats are so ingrained in our culture as a norm rather than a treat (sigh), it is just habit. On the other hand, my mum saw fit to buy sweets and leave the open bag in my sofa today and although I looked at it out of interest, I didn't want them.splishsplash wrote: »Holland and Barrett stock Plamil no added sugar chocolate - not cheap but it doesn't contain sugar (or dairy, or gluten). I could do with joining this thread. I know I don't react well to sugar and I don't even really like sweet things, but it's so addictive! I've found myself eating more and more chocolate and other sweet things, over the last few years and I've piled the pounds/stones on as a result.
Tomorrow will be day one of sugar-free cold turkey for me.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30000 -
Does anybody use the DaVinci syrups? All the low carb sites seem to take upwads of a fiver for postage, which is putting me off.0
