Faulty TV Argos, return for refund?

Hi MSE members,
I have a quick question regarding consumer rights, just wondering if I have any rights to return a faulty TV bought for £349.99 less than 3 weeks ago from Argos. Would I be able to return it into store for store credit so I can get another TV of greater value. I have a Philips 4K 49" LED TV which most of the time requires a reboot before I can power it up, it's sticking on standby even after pressing power on button on the remote it stays in standby. I have changed the batteries for new batteries in the remote and also tried pressing the power button which also doesn't power the TV up. I have to turn off the plug, wait a minute or 2 for it to power up.
Please help me, thanks kindly.

Did you buy it instore as opposed to get it delivered ?
If in store then yes, you can ask for in store credit but I believe they don't have to give store credit.0 -
If it's less than 30 days old, and it's faulty, then you have a legal right to a full refund. You don't even have to accept store credit - you can just have your money back (normally credited back to a credit or debit card). If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
As you brought it less then 30 days ago (and its faulty) you can reject it for a full refund under CRA though have fun argueing with the staff at argos.0

It seems there are some issues with the TV you have purchased and there is a software fix according to the website.

Thanks for the replies guys and girls, I appreciate your time. I do apologise for not replying any sooner than now, i completely forgot i posted this question. So I came back to post my outcome. I took the TV, unboxed with receipt back to my local Argos, it was embarassing standing in a queue with a faulty 49" TV in arms. When I finally got to the cashier, I explained the fault and they had a check to see if it was faulty and guess what, she plugged it in, had her colleague to control the remote and power it up..... It came on. At this time I felt like my heart had fell out of my chest, they must think I'm lying and trying to pull a quick one. I explained that I am not a vile, thieving liar. The lady then asked me to wait while she had a word with her superior. A few minutes (felt like hours) later she returned, thankfully bearing good news allowing me a refund which I politely accepted.
With the refund, I purchased another TV (£80-£90) more expensive from the same store at the same time. And guess what, thus TV is faulty also. It switches itself off randomly without any interference, power saver is turned off and so is auto standby and when it switches into standby, I turn it back on and it has no sound at all. I am going to return it Monday or Tuesday, with receipt, unboxed and just have my money. I have decided that I am not a fan of Deja Vu, I won't be getting another Philips TV, and neither a Bush TV in future. I will just happily sit on my sofa, and watch TV on my phone which (touch wood) hasn't given me any technical problems. 0 -
I always find Argos really good with faulty items: I took a Hoover back not boxed, no store receipt with a bank statement 9 mths old not a problem at all xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

I agree with you there, if ever I've had a problem or fault with an item they refund or replace without hesitation. :-)0

You may want to record this on your phone, so when you take it back you can demonstrate the fault to the Argos staff.0 -
Thanks thumbremote, I shall take a screenshot. When I confront them at the store my mind somehow goes blank. I am better with written words rather than verbal. Showing them this would save me a lot of confusion, stuttering and breath 0
