new build flaws - compensation?

    But that's exactly what IS happening.
    Now I understand that the jobs are being put right but as I read it, its 5 months on and still work is ongoing - if the OP can only be there at a certain time

    As for compensation - they should be eligible. It is their choice to take time off work but for reasons that any reasonable person would agree, are valid.

    Yes, the reasons are valid - for them. Nobody's said otherwise. Many other perfectly reasonable people would be happy to hand their key over.

    Then I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Someone else's move in date isn't being delayed because of the OP, its because of the poor workmanship and lack of quality assurance of the developer. And if the developer has to pay a bit more for trades to be available at certain dates, then that's the downside to getting idiots in as sub contractors.

    Every time I've been given a date, I have accepted, I have not been difficult.
    I have then booked annual leave, or arranged for a parent or brother to be here to open up.


    also who am I supposed to leave keys with if I'm already gone to work when builders arrive?


    I asked for advice, not a personal attack, why do you think its nessecery to call someone pathetic?

    I've just been adding up, and I think I've had about 27 separate visits from tradesmen to rectify the issues.


    some have been plumbers, then a decorator to make good, but have had to make multiple visits to allow for plaster to be made good etc, some have been plumbers who have taken 5 visits to identify the problem

    who are the developers of the new built? name and shame them so they lose business. its only fair.

    kier group? haha I own stock in this company.

    they don't really specialise in new build resis. should have stuck to other more known developers for new build.

    I left a key at the site office so they could fix all the problems. I've had very similar to you, although they really did a number on the heating, and it only took just over a month to fix as the site manager would fix problems when workmen became available, meaning no scheduling to delay work and things could get fixed quicker. They even paid for a professional cleaner to give the house a deep clean and clean the carpets when they had finished.


    As they are fixing the issues you really don't have a case to request compensation, they are putting any faults right. I like to look at it as if I had bought an old house, like my previous, it would have cost me money to fix the problems, and my old house had a lot when I moved in. In fact the problems could have been a lot worse, but there is always a risk with buying any house.
