NEXT Directory PPI

Options
Are there any success stories on this please? I know that I paid their equivalent of PPI, but have heard that they were not subject to the same regulations. Advice appreciated!!

The underwriter, Phoenix/Groupama has accepted liability for Next Directory PPI (it was auto added at point of sale), but first you have to complain to Next and wait for a final response before referring to the insurer.

Many thanks. I'm pretty sure that I had this added as I recall them cancelling it, although I have no old paper statements. Do I need any paperwork? I still have the same active account (but no PPI of course).

You could send a SAR for a more in depth search, or phone and ask if there's a note on the account of you having paid PPI premiums at an earlier point in time.

Thanks Sun. Is there any information as to when PPI was applied to Next Directory credit accounts? Mine was opened in roughly 2000, I believe that the PPI was removed 4/5 years ago. Does that sound about right to anyone else in the same boat please?

Next Directory probably auto added it when you opened the account and removed it when PPI was withdrawn around 2009/10, they wrote to customers at the time.

I have spoken to them this morning, confirmed that I did have PP with Next and got the ball rolling. Will keep updated on here for anyone else with interest in this. Thanks Sun for the tips so far.

Hi, I also remember paying PPI and then it being stopped as Next stated that they did not offer that anymore. Following the most recent posts above, I have also contacted Next and made an enquiry about paying PPI myself. To begin with they were quite reticent with one person saying that it was a long time ago and I probably hadn't paid anything, then telling me that I had not contacted the right department. After a little bit of persuasion they looked and admitted that I had paid it and advised me what to do to get the ball rolling! Email now on its way and I will wait to see what the outcome is and keep all posted.
Thank you to those above whose advice I have followed.

  • Hi there can anyone tell me how I find out if I have ppi on my next account I've had it since 2000 and I also have a directory card that I've had for around 8 years. Thank you

Just call them and they will tell you.

I spoke to them, they confirmed that I did hold PPP (as they call it), and I complained via email. However I received a rather patronising letter back to say that the way that it was sold (ticking a box or calling to request) meant that it was the account holders responsibility to ensure that the cover was required.

I was referred to the underwriter should I want to pursue my complaint. I would be interested as to others response to Next letters in the past. They made me feel dreadful for even investigating!!
  • Hi

Can you give me the email address? I have had a next account since about 1990 and as i was a student there was no way i wouldve been able to claim anything

    Thank you
