Randall CH timer faceplate removal

I have a 20-year-old Randall 102E7 CH timer, and I'd like to get the front plate off to have a squint at the wiring. The online manual (Danfoss) has a slightly different look to it, and refers to a releasing screw underneath. There is no such screw point on mine (checked with torch and mirror, it's in a tight spot). There is an obvious line all round about 1cm in, but no obvious 'give' when I try and prise. I am planning to replace the thing, but don't want to break it (the missus would not be best pleased at loss of the CH, however temporary...). Any ideas? Do I just need to be bold, or is there a magic release?

Ah, never mind, sussed it. Not the most obvious design ever, if one didn't fit it in the first place. One has to push it firmly against the backplate and upwards - and get it clear of the pins before you pull it off. Unfortunately the installer had left virtually no clearance above, due to positioning the fused switch, so I bent the pins, and spent a happy hour trying to work out why the damn thing wouldn't go back on again ...0

Fun game - been there and broke it. Used a some chocolate blocks to bypass the timer, just connected the timed circuit wires permanently - heating and water on 24/7 until I got a replacement.0
