Thanks everyone. I presume you only get a new v5c when you sell the car? Any ideas why it couldn't recognise the 11 digit number we put in? The car has got a private plate on it(bought like that year ago). I tried it with the private plate number, that should be the right plate to use right?0

Hi all,
Sorry another question on this that I would love an opinion on! I'm looking at insurance quotes and it seems I can I add myself as owner but leave my dad as registered keeper. if we change the address, but leave him as keeper (and declare this) would this be a problem? Reason I ask is we've now missed the end of the month and would lose out on a months worth of tax which if we don't need to change id rather keep? We generally share the cost of the car anyway.0 -
outright no problems doing that , however your insurance co may just charge you £25-£30 when you tell them that the car is now registered to you next mth (admin charges)Save a Rachael

How much is the VED on this car?
Seem like a load of faff to keep from losing a months worth of road rent.0
