  • Hi Anyone

Can anyone tell me where on the statement does it say your paid PPI because I have received my SAR and although Santander has told me there were charges it is not clear on the paperwork I replied. Also two of the copies of my agreements are badly photocopied so it is difficult to read. Would they charge me a further £10 if I ask for clearer copies?

    Cheers

Why don't you just ask Santander directly if you had any PPI?

If it is not clearly itemised on the statements you've been sent, then the chances are that you never had PPI (assuming you held credit or store cards).

If you are looking for PPI on loans, it will show clearly on the Agreements.

Hi thanks. Santander told me I do have PPI but I wanted to be able to see the payments myself as I didn't want them to say I'm only entitled to a minimal percentage back when I initially paid ex amount. I want it to be fair.

Does anyone know the direct telephone number for HMRC to obtain a copy of past employment history? They only gave me an email address and said that the initial number I called is for employment history going back only 5 years, earlier years there is apparently no number only an email address.

If any complaint is successful, you'll get back 100% of any payments you made plus 8% simple interest.

Why would you think you would be offered a "minimal percentage"?

If Santander have already told you that you had PPI, you have wasted £10 making a SAR.

Hi does anyone know the direct telephone number to request an Employment History (1990s) from HMRC?

I don't think repeat postings will get you a different response to the one HMRC gave you. E-Mail them.
  • Hello
I have just phone Santander with regards to my old accoints held with Principles, House of Fraser and Debenhams. These are from early 1990's to 2006. Phoned the number above (thank you) and gave them my details, although there system is currently down, they say I will receive an acknowldgement within two week and have an outcome notified to me within 8 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed now, and will let you know how I get on.
  • I received a letter from Santander saying they have closed my complaint. Apparently the PPI policy was added to my card at the outset and the terms and conditions of the policy allow cancellation within the first 30 days, with any premiums being refunded, as long as no claim had been made on the policy. Any premiums would have been paid back with the 30 days back in the 1990s they said.

I had 3 cards. 2 had PPI and they said the 3rd one didn't but I can write to the Financial Ombudsman Service about that one. (Why would I do that if there was no PPI).

Anyway regarding the 2 hards with PPI that was apparently cancelled and refunded within 30days of my account opening back in 1990s, not sure whether to leave it because I don't know if what they are saying is true. Also the print out that they sent me says cancelled within 30days too.

Any advice please as I still had my cards for a good few years after that and not sure whether I paid any PPI as their print out does not actually state any PPI insurance payments.

    Thanks

If you have no evidence to prove otherwise, then you'd be best to let it go and move on.
  • Hi :)

I know this thread is almost one year old, but wanted to say thank you to everyone providing the info. I have only just activated my PPI complaint with Santander for a DP card taken out in 2001, one month after my 18th birthday. I'm hoping it will be a successful outcome, but thank you for providing the contact details.

I would've been writing all over the place if it wasn't for this thread :)
