I think this is very dependent on the area. In my area there is a great shortage of SH, and only the most vulnerable applicants stand a chance of a SH property. This means that frequently, though of course, not always. SH tenants in my area can have chaotic lifestyles, which can make them challenging neighbours. This is in no way being judgmental, or stereotyping, it is a statement of fact. I would suggest the OP conducts some research with the LA regarding the criteria to access the SH on the development before making a decision. I don't think the OPs concerns should be dismissed as snobbery. They are in a position of being able to choose where they live, and it's understandable they want to minimise risks of a problem neighbourhood if at all possible. Also, as many people express concerns about SH on these forums, it is clear there is a perception it is undesirable; which, even if unfounded, may impact the ability to sell in future.
