My husband owns a leasehold house and is attempting to buy the freehold and sell the house at the same time. There are currently 30 years remaining on the lease. Having mineral rights does not mean the Trust has a right to mine. It means that if you find minerals on the property they belong to the Trust. The Halifax must have lent on hundreds of thousands of homes with mineral rights, and I would suggest as previous posters that it is the length of the lease which is causing problems.
