Did your relative not notice the girl in the next bed passing over a £50 baby carrier to her partner to be smuggled out? Or do you think other staff might have noticed their co-worker taking one home? The NHS gets a lot of 'I was robbed' tales and 99% of them are untrue and someone looking to make a few quid. They aren't going to get CID in over a £50 item.

If it was her,and there's no proof, I doubt it would be that obvious.

This place is an utter disgrace. A relative of mine had some items stolen just after midnight and 2am while sleeping in a chair next to her baby and there's nothing the staff can do about it. I've told her to phone the police and they say there's nothing they can do .It's a secure ward ,you need buzzed in by a nurse so at that time of night they must have an idea who it is. It makes you wonder how safe your baby is.

Such a shame that you focus on this, yet fail to mention the thousands of pounds worth of healthcare your relative received free of charge :(

So I assume that you know that the relative in question has never paid any tax or national insurance in the UK.
For most people, the NHS is not free. You may well receive healthcare without being required to pay for it at the place of delivery, but none the less, you have been paying for it every time you get taxed or make NI contributions.

The NHS is free at the point of need, not free per se.

My Ma's been in Wishaw General recently. A&E, Wards 14,15 then 12 (all a miles walk from the entrance but hey ho lol). Tbh the place is a bit shambolic when it comes to personal items. She came out of hospital minus quite a bit of clothing we'd taken in.

So I sympathise with the OP, this particular hospital does have issues when it comes to personal items going missing.

Her baby needs fed every 2hours so she has to sleep inbetween on a chair , it was while she was sleeping that the theft took place so no she didn't notice it being taken .

They might expect it, but crime is a fact, it happens.
I think I'd just be glad to be out of that ward with those people, back to the safety of my own home.
