It was one of those new style baby carriers, it's already been replaced . She took it in just to practice how to tie /use it. £50 I think0

So let us still blame the victim. What if they were taken into hospital suddenly and had no opportunity to remove eg jewellry and leave it at home. Does that make it okay for someone to steal it. As it disappeared between midnight and 2am it seems to be more likely that it was an employee than a visitor. All the more reason to hide the thief! I guess that your baby would have to be stolen first before you would be able to say how safe it was. Maybe if a baby was stolen then they would actually bother to look at the CCTV.
Its not blaming the victim its just that people do have to take some responsibilities for their own actions.
I doubt it was the staff, if it was there would be regular instances of theft which then would be investigated.
More likely to be someone else on the ward.0 -

The wrist tag has a barcode which sets off an alarm if the baby is removed from the ward. So no reason to look at cctv, you just look at the door.
I personally don't want resources being wasted on the theft of personal items, hospitals have more important things to do.0 -
'Nice girls' would be spending the money on their new baby and not on private care, which is bound to cut resources for those who can't afford to go private. (eg Doctor is busy with his private patient,at the moment,so you'll have to hang on)0

So anyone who goes private is not "nice"? The other way to look at it is that they are freeing up resources by using private faciities. It is up to the consultant to organise his time so that he does justice to both private and NHS patients. It is not the patients concern.0 -
Hospitals are hotbeds of theft .
Police have special books of mugshots of criminals who just target hospitals.0 -
It's wishy general, they probably stole to get money for heroin and buckie.0
-
Sadly, bottom-feeder thieves target the vulnerable. I'd wish hell on them, but they must already be there on personal hells to be so miserable and selfish as to rob patients.0

You get rich chavy scum and poor nice girls, so don't know why people are banging on about Private v NHS with regards the "quality" of clientèle.
(unless it's their own prejudices showing through)0 -
Wherever you are it's down to you to look after your own stuff and make sure it's not stolen. If your mobile/handbag/purse is nicked whilst in a pub/bar is it the landlords fault?0
