DVLA not sending tax reminders?

The DVLA Website says "Your Direct Debit will automatically renew unless:
- you cancel it
- you make a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification)
- your MOT expires before the next payment is taken or has already expired - DVLA will send you a letter"

Thanks for that, I feel a bit more assured now.:)0 -
Not sure they need to send a paper reminder if you're paying by DD. I'm not even sure you get an email. If you set the DD then the mandate will continue unless you cancel it.I am on monthly DD, so is it worth leaving it and doing a check on May 1st just to make sure that it is taxed for the next year?
Will I get a notification sent through to my email address like I did last year?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

My tax was due last month and I pay by direct debit, all I got was a red warning letter saying that I needed to MOT my car again wise the direct debit would stop. Wasn't a reminder like the old days.0

I am on monthly DD and got an email on 19th April with DD dates for the coming year.0 -
A poster on another forum did not get a reminder and received a £80 penalty notice.
They say it's a deliberate DVLA scam. Surely not!0 -
I used to have a reminder in the windscreen, that I could look at every day.
But I eventually cracked under the constant nagging that displaying an out of date disc can still get you a fine (scaremongering, but probably accurate with the general lack of joined up thinking you expect from our masters) and removed it.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

It's scaremongering nonsense. If you really need a reminder on the windscreen, why not make your own?0 -
