service in ford lookers

Hi, always had old cars so services by friend or halfords so never had experience of service at dealers.
Recently bought 14 plate ford and gave for service at 25000k. Apart from oil i brake fluid they did nothing else! Oh smuged my windows with filthy cloth so I had to clean them myself afterwards and filled my screenwash with water! When questioned about water they said it is standard procedure...
My question is....is it? Is service at dealers always sooo bad and limited?
It can be very hit and miss, the problem with dealers is the whole business is sales orientated and it's the sales staff that get the promotions. The problems come in when a sales person gets promoted to service manager, in come all the spread sheets, the BS, the targets and the unrealistic job times (calculated by someone who has never so much as lifted a spanner), which then forces the technicians to cut corners or lose their jobs.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The annoying thing is the mark up on parts. My dealer charged me £9.50 for an oil filter. They will sell me the same filter on ebay for £6.50 delivered.0

My local VW garage use the branded screen wash and put the remainder of the bottle in the boot, it's always washed and cleaned inside as well.0

We can't tell - as you haven't said which exact model you have so we can't comment on the work required at 25K miles - always assuming that previous servicing was done as required.
The days of a yearly or 2 yearly 'major service' where everything is carried out at the one visit, with a 'minor service' halfway through, is not the way things are done by many manufacturers these days.
You might need only oil and filter then a few months later the brake fluid may need changed.
The air and fuel filters are normally changed to co-incide with other work, but they are not done at every oil change.
The problem here seems to me that you put your car in for a service without knowing what Ford recommend for your specific car at that mileage.
Perhaps an oil change and brake fluid change is totally correct.
What did you expect them to do? Did you ask the receptionist when you left the car with them?
