  • And debt has done down by another £38 - sales and a DD that went out!!! Every little really does help!

I'll update the signature when I am paid... Still on track!!!!!
GOAL - debt free (except mortgage) by October 2017.

  • And finally...

    In June I will:

    1. Get debt totals to £10177
    2. Get savings up to £700 (so actually debt will be less than £10k - but I need the "cushion" of savings as I do not have a credit card at all anymore)
    3. Aim to sell £150 worth of stuff I do not need
    4. Not panic if car fails the MOT. It had so much money spent on it last time that I refuse to shell out for any but minor repairs. (But fingers crossed and all that!)

Really great June goals. Very balanced.

I'm happy to hear you have been both having fun and are being productive. Another nice balance.

DS3 and girlfriend are coming down for his friend's wedding. She is vegetarian and so I'm menu planning. She was so worried about what to wear. My son told her country semi formal. She texted me that she had no idea what that meant.:) As the wedding venue is at a ranch (US), I helped her out with a further explanation and she sent a picture of a lovely dress that will work just fine. We love her to pieces and wish the 'M' word would come up, but not so far. They have lived together for a few years now and seem very happy with their lives.

    Enjoy your family visit!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

  • Thanks, Mila.
Well done you for menu planning for a veggie. Very often even close friends dread having us over for a meal and as for Christmas...! I have some lovely friends who always go all out and produce complex and tasty dishes. I feel bad for the trouble they go to, but so grateful for their kindness and the fact they are great cooks! I dread cooking meat for my BF as I am not used to it and worry it won't be done enough.
Are you going to the wedding, too? If so, enjoy. Maybe it'll inspire your son and GF to have one of their own??

Heading off to visit family and looking forward to seeing my nieces (1 and 3).

  • Hi dairy,

Had a great time with my sister, her OH and the girls. The youngest is 13 months and just walking with that adorable flat footed stomp they do. The girls are great fun but also utterly exhausting. I have massive respect for parents. Really don't know how people manage if they are on their own???

Sister and OH are selling a business. They were having lots of fun spending their soon to come cash. He will be buying another business and they have found a holiday home here they want to buy (which will cost almost 3 times what my home is worth!!!!), my sister came back with her £280 weekly shop (and there will be top ups..). I was also treated to a meal out which was very kind of them, but I felt rather awkward as there is no way I would be buying them lunch at such an expensive place. I spoke to my sister about it and she said not to worry, it was a thank you for babysitting my nieces. I really don't expect or want any rewards for that!

BF was away at a festival and phoned me late Saturday expecting me to drive about 200 miles to meet him there ( a day before back to work) because it was such fun. I explained that I had work to do (a teacher on long term sick needed her cover doing, plus PowerPoints for lessons next week needed to be done and the never-ending marking....) All of that was too boring for BF who told me just to drive over anyway . Thankfully he only had a vague recollection of the call the next day (wonder why??!) and is now home "recovering" and in a bit of a strop with me as I didn't go - always the plan - and wasn't there to stop him spending too much on festival food, beer and tee-shirts. Idiot!

2 weeks until payday and I have £20 in my current account. One DD of £7.50 for my phone is due out and I have petrol and a decent amount of food. And I found £1 on my drive today. What to do with such bounty..??!!I also have £37.50 in my mini savers accounts but want to avoid raiding those small pots unless I have to.

I'm cross with myself for not getting on eb@y over the hols - I was only home for 2 days - so will look to put that right ASAP. On Sunday after a day's work at school I planted my vegetable plants - toms, courgettes and beans. I have tons of strawberries coming and the apple, pear and cherry trees are laden. Raspberries are also forming nicely so will be alright for fruit in a few months. This year I will actually pick it all and not be too lazy to store it....

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine?

  • Hi dairy,

Great weekend - apart from an annoying cold. Just back from BF's house and he is a changed man!!!!! He's on a healthy living kick and insisted on cooking for me. He did a great job! Food was lovely and healthy and we went on lovely walks around his city browsing away in antique places and non-chain grocery stores for yet more healthy veg. He got us a bottle of wine to enjoy - just had a glass each Friday and Saturday night.

Finances a bit tight at the moment. I have about £10 before I am paid and need to put some petrol in the car. My records of what I spent on certain things are surprising - I will post before the end of the month so I don't forget...The app has a graph which shows you where it all does and it explains why I feel so broke!! About 3/4 of my salary is going on the mortgage, credit cards, loans and savings. And this is a good feeling. May struggle to be so good next month. Hopefully I can get some eb@y money rolling in..

Good news is that the bathroom is dry enough to fix now - still need to get a quote *chews fingernails* .....
but have some numbers to call and will get on with that next week.

BF is off to Barcelona on Wednesday so and I won't see him for almost 2 weeks. I am sure work will fill the void and this will help me save money.. He has persuaded me to go to another festival with him in 3 weeks time. Entry will be free but and I will put aside some money from next payday, it'll be the only going out for a month so why not?!

Not looking forward to work this week. My fab weekend was at the cost of the catching up I was hoping to do after running round setting cover for so many people last week. Have just heard we won't see either again next week and they can't set cover. Grrrr. Still, you can't help being ill!

Thank you, Linz. Enjoy the money app! I've found it useful to help me see where it all goes - certainly not where I thought it did!
Wow - 3 babies soon. Congratulations! :T How old are the other two? That's a lovely, positive reason to plan for the future. Hope the pregnancy is going well and you are looking after yourself as well as everyone else. Best of luck!! Xx
