I've seen mention of a " Google Play Music for £1 " special deal ..... but is this any good for my Nokia Lumia 735 ? .......

if not , what is the best / cheapest way of me getting music to have on my phone ?

Your phone is a Windows phone. Google Play Music is not available as a app for your phone. It is not very useful for you.

Google have made very few of their apps available in the Windows Phone Store. They really want you to just get an Android phone.
