    If the number of devices that regularly connect changes, it tells you that the number of occupants may have changed.

    If there used to be one car parked outside but now there are 10, that's a clue, too.

    Still the confusion between what someone can do and what they may do.

    Obviously a tenant can move someone into their room, but that does not imply that they have a right to do so.

    Then, of course, having a guest now and then is not the same as 'moving in'.

    It's interesting how naive people are about technology though. There you are subletting illegally and the landlord rocks up and says It looks to me like you're subletting illegally.

    He doesn't have to say how he knows.

    Smart remarks about how many laptops you've got will amuse him no end as he evicts you.

    If the number of devices that regularly connect suddenly goes up from your usual maximum of 3 to 6 or 9 it's pretty clear someone else has moved in.

    Thats not going to happen within a week. How would you know whats "normal" in that time?

    Thanks for the clarification. In that case, its very strange, especially given how soon. Could it be that bf is using a car parking space and someone else nearby has complained on account of that? eg has been 2 cars for a time (previous occupants) now its often 3 cars?
