I had been using a TP link wifi adapter - a wee USB thing from April this year. It worked fine until last Monday or Tuesday and now it isn't working aswell

I'm in work and can check again after 10 tonight - but the way I spelt out the realtek thing was copied straight from device manager last night

So I bought a TP wireless adapter in Argos for £10 - it has worked perfectly until last Monday night - not the wireless adapter isn't working either

quoted from the OP about halfway down the first page of the thread. It may well be a case of having to buy the "right" usb wifi adapter, if indeed there is a "right" one that W10 hasn't borked

The driver I linked to above sp77177 is a later driver,

    2023.37.616.2016

    Date 11/07/2016

No idea what the changes are though.

    Hi

I understand that, it's just that mine works and has been thru the whole series of W10 updates and when I run the HP updater, it don't update.

So stability seems to be there.

Hi sorry I haven't been online - I've no computer

So my friend in work took it and had a look - he's got me back to windows 8, but it's still not connecting wireless and the tp link adapter is also not working.

I think I'm at the stage I need to buy a new laptop

As a last ditch attempt try using a third party driver locator like Slimdrivers or Driver Booster 3. It won't do any harm. It found an updated sound and wifi driver for me which nothing else would fix.

Always worth a go - I've had Slimdrivers in my toolkit for a few years, and it can often find working drivers where other methods have failed....

I assume you have tried testing your laptop on another wireless network and eliminated the router you are using at home as a potential problem ?
